New soundcard is in! Even better, I was able to install it and have it operational without any aggravation at all. Put in, power on, download drivers, reboot, done. I was bracing for a struggle in light of the fact that compatibility with Windows 7 seems to be a major nagging point with sound cards now. The worst part, such as it was, is that I had to play with settings to get it off of this weird super-echo stadium like setting which I don't recall toggling but was there never the less. Once that was resolved, it's all smooth sailing. And the sound? Very different and much less static and popping, thankfully.

Meanwhile, I had a late start with this, so let's go. Made it to 9th Style in EX yesterday, and we continue in there.

While I think the response and low latency helps, I think the framerate hasn't improved at all and it feels like the scroll could be smoother. I forget what processor is inside, but it was among the better chips back in 2008 so, despite the age it shouldn't be so terrible with this. Task Manager shows CPU use at 100% though. I'm not thrilled by that at all.

Regardless, my enjoyment of playing is increased with the hardware now in place.
