I haven't played a game in Japanese in some time, so I've resolved to do now with Gal Gun what I used to do years ago, in that I'd have a notepad nearby and take the time to write out kanji and look things up if I don't know what it is from memory. It grinds the progress of the game to a halt but this is one of the few things I ever did right to learn the very little which I do know to begin with, so it's just as well to try to do things right this time as well. Sure enough, once I sit down with the dictionaries at the side and pen in hand, for some reason it seems like I understood more of what was being said in the game. Is it that or just that I coincidentally came up on a bit of dialogue which is more basic than normal and I just happened to know more of what was being said there. Regardless, it felt nice to do that again and feel like I can maybe get back into learning more of the language.

Ordinarily I wouldn't want to stop after going through something like Red FMJ and building up a sheen from the work out of playing it, but I leave behind a row of charts for tomorrow which will help to lead into playing terrific charts like Spark Essential Remix, and I already hit the hour point after that, so I figured that was enough. I probably could stand to replay Galgalim on a day where it's one of the last songs I play instead of one of the first. Even if I can't get accustomed to this timing very well I still have to raise an eyebrow at the plays which give me more Goods than anything else (barring poors). Miru Key Way is still a horrible song. I think after a few plays of this up through Lincle I'll have better handling of hold notes, in no small part thanks to a color scheme for them which give the white keys and black keys visually distinctive hues. Not so much to ask there.
