I really should know better than to check auctions at any time before the end of the day without having done other things first.

Perhaps the change of venue, of sorts, will help rearrange my life a bit. I was found and have signed on to do volunteer representation for people with IRS issues. I was just contacted hours ago about what should probably be my first case. Considering I have absolutely zero experience in actually undertaking this kind of function as part of my job, I look forward to getting this experience and hopefully getting properly acclimated to the process so that I can eventually perform it as part of my paying business.

At retail today, I was called to do a carry out for a customer who had purchased a bike which was assembled at the store. For whatever reason, the bike builder put the seat on the bike at a downward inclination, which should have been visible as being off, but that's how it was brought to the customer regardless. The customer asks if the seat can be adjusted; I look around the seat, find the bolt which holds the seat in place, and tell her that she can loosen that bolt to adjust the seat. She asks me if the bolt can be loosened by hand. I say no, it requires a wrench to do that. In response, she asks for that bike to be returned to storage and for a new one to be brought to her. Before I could address her as she walked away, I asked the service desk nearby to search through their make-shift tool drawer (which is a mere shelf stocking unit box). I find a socketed wrench which actually fit the bolt, adjusted the seat, and left, saying that I would be nearby if they needed to page me again. Ten minutes later, I see the customer driving away from the fire lane where she was parked the entire time. I suppose my adjustment was all that was needed.

Bleah. I guess it's not a total trainwreck of a day but this wasn't very good. I recall playing PS2 Empress that if I started the day playing Colorful Cookie A14, that the rest of the session seemed to be ruined. I wonder if this is some kind of hold over of that bad karma.
