looking for advice on how to handle a system sale gone wrong

here is the situation.
i sold a complete system with a few games to someone. payment was promptly received and i shipped out the system. i tested it to my best ability since i only had the games i sold with the system.
few days later i get a PM that the package arrived but the buyer is unhappy. he can't get his other games to work on it correctly.
so he demanded a full refund. i told him that i understood his frustration but that's not really fair. what i sold him was working to my knowledge and everything in my "for sale" post was accurate.
i was willing to work with him if he can meet me half way. he refused and wanted a full refund.
i replied that i will refund his money minus the shipping cost. he took this in a way that he would get to keep the system and stuff and not have to send it back to me. i don't think that's fair.
what do you guys think? should i have to refund his whole amount? that's like me paying for the privilege of mailing him shit and have it return to me.

what's your opinion?

Official site: http://the-witness.net

Kotaku sucks but they've got video and impressions from the PAX demo here (http://kotaku.com/5631002/a-tantalizing-session-with-the-witness-the-next-game-from-the-creator-of-braid?skyline=true&s=i).

Artwork and exploratory, puzzle-focused gameplay style are reminiscent of Rand brothers' iconic early '90s adventure game, MYST. I have little doubt it will take on its own identity before release, still at least a year away.

And after Braid, I will be there day one. With bells on.

Super Meat Boy

Super Meat Boy is coming out for XBLA, PC, and Wiiware. It is the feature game in Microsoft's Game Feast event and will be released on October 20th for $15 on XBLA. After having extensively played it during PAX, I can say that it's definitely a day-one purchase and would recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of hardcore platforming.

One of the cool features the game has is its Dark World mechanic. If you beat a stage with a Grade A+ rating, you unlock the Dark World version of the stage. The Dark World version is the same stage with a bunch of additional hazards located throughout the level that increases its difficulty level. Going through the Dark World is optional, but it's there to challenge you if you're good in the regular game.

The Warp Zones take you to special stages that have special rules. Some make the game play like a SNES or Game Boy game, in which it looks differently (Game Boy colors in the Game Boy levels) and offer only a limited number of lives to beat its stages. Other Warp Zone allow you to play as characters from other indie games in stages specifically designed for those characters. The one in the demo I played was Commander Video from Bit.Trip.Runner. I know that the main character from Braid is another character in this game.

You will die a lot in this game. But when you finally beat a level, you can save a replay of that level which shows your last 40 attempts. The gameplay trailer I posted has examples of all the Meat Boy attempts running around.

Definitely add this title to your watch list. If you have any questions about the game, let me know.

Are you ready, Steef? Just Add Water is working on a high-definition remake of Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath. The Gravity Crash developer announced the project earlier today, highlighting it as the first in a "long and fruitful relationship" with the original game's developer, Oddworld Inhabitants. "Having a chance to update the great title and release it on PS3 is just a brilliant opportunity, not least for us, but for the fans too," added Just Add Water MD Stewart Gilray.

Set for release on PlayStation Network during Easter next year, the PS3 remake of Stranger's Wrath will offer enhanced 720p visuals, more detailed character models, remastered dialogue, PlayStation Move support and "additional bonus material."

When it launched on Xbox in January 2005, Oddworld: Stranger's Wrath was notable for being, well, a really bizarre first-person shooter. It placed the franchise's environmental missive inside a wild and weird Western aesthetic, and replaced ammunition with ravenous fuzzballs. An EA-developed port for PlayStation 2 never made it to stores.

*July 2010 (http://www.the-nextlevel.com/tnl/threads/55547-TNL-s-GotM-July-2010) Winner: StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty*
I guess Blizzard still has it, even though their games never really interested me personally. Are you all still enjoying SC2?

August was the land of the downloadable games. Notable absences include Ivy The Kiwi?, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light (which I'll probably toss onto September's poll thanks to the PSN/PC releases and online co-op patch), Elemental: War of Magic (because it's a pile), Victoria II, Ace Combat: Joint Assault, Monday Night Combat, and Ghost Pirates of Vooju Island (sorry Frog).

My vote is going to either Kane & Lynch 2 or Scott Pilgrim. Both have significant flaws, but both go above and beyond in their presentation in ways that make me want to forgive them. I'll vote once I finish up the former.

Recently Capcom made clear their intentions to significantly reduce the time between releases in their major franchises, and it looks like they're following through. Speaking to Spanish website 3DJuegos (via NeoGAF), Keiji Inafune, global head of production at Capcom, said they intend to put Resident Evil 6 on the fast-track to retail shelves.
"Given the great success which led to us Resident Evil 5, we want Resident Evil 6 to hit the market as soon as possible," Inafune said. "In fact, Capcom will have news about this soon..." If that's in fact the case, it seems likely we may hear something at Tokyo Game Show, which kicks off on September 16. It's a venue big enough to seem appropriate for the first Resident Evil 6 announcement, and there's really no other big gaming event taking place any time soon after that.

We already know at least one thing about Resident Evil 6, which is that Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi won't return to spearhead the title. But otherwise, for now we'll look ahead toward TGS and hope we do indeed get some news on the game.

This series has clearly jumped the shark and now is running the risk of being run into the ground. Maybe a formal announcement of 6 will finally motivate me to finish 5...

Best Versions of Multiplatform Games

A feature that I wish was more prevalent among the large review sites is specific comparisons between the different versions of multiplatform releases. As a general rule, a non-lazy PC version > 360 version > PS3 version, but obviously that's not always the case. Another rule of thumb is that the native platform release is often better than the ports, but that also falls flat sometimes.

Does anyone know a reliable source for comparative information?

In the absence of that, are there any PS3 versions that beat their 360 counterparts? The only obvious one that comes to mind is Final Fantasy XIII. I think Burnout Paradise is supposed to be marginally better as well.

---Quote (Originally by IGN)---
The developers at Treasure sure know their way around shooters. With classics like Gunstar Heroes under their belt and the launch of Sin and Punishment: Star Successor for the Wii, Treasure has been giving gamers around the world a serious taste of action for years. Shooter fans are in luck, because the developers aren't stopping there -- Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury is heading to Xbox Live Arcade this November.

A sequel of sorts to Bangai-O Spirits for the Nintendo DS, Missile Fury is meant to represent the true Bangai-O experience by offering players a wealth of levels and some of the most action-packed challenges around. I had the opportunity to play a pre-alpha version of Bangai-O HD a few weeks ago and, despite suffering death on more than one occasion, I had a great time with the game.

It should be noted that the build I was shown was very early and there's a lot that could change by the time the final game is released. But at its core, Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury is a 2D shooter that puts players in control of a heavily armed robot. By using the left stick to move and the right stick to shoot, players will need to survive an absolutely insane amount of projectiles in order to clear the game's 100 or so levels.

Even in its early form, Missile Fury seems to have it all. The game comes equipped with a full level editor which will enable gamers to share their creations online with friends. There will also be the standard addition of leaderboards and more. There isn't any multiplayer to speak of, but there looks to be plenty of content to keep people busy.

Most levels have targets that need to be destroyed, which are marked on the mini-map in the corner of the screen. In order to get to those targets, some thought needs to go into solving in-game puzzles. Gates will often block the player's path, which need to be opened by triggering an explosive fuse, for example. This might sound like an easy puzzle to solve, but with hundreds of missiles on screen, there's a lot of action to keep track of.

Don't worry though; your trusty war machine has a few tricks up its cybernetic sleeve. There are three different weapon types that can be picked up during play: Bound, Break and Homing. Bound power-ups give your mech a beautiful collection of lasers, which bounce off of walls and down corridors with devastating results. Break missiles chew through enemy fire like a hot knife through butter, and Homing missiles (as you might have guessed) track nearby enemies. I originally assumed that Break missiles would always be the best choice, as their potency against incoming fire is absolutely critical in a pinch. But after playing a level that was set in very tight passages, I soon came to appreciate the Bound power-up as well.

The mech can also use a short-range dash to smash enemies, but this is only useful in close quarters. The most devastating technique the mech can employ is a super move which fills the entire screen with missiles (or lasers). This technique needs to be charged and players can't move during this charging phase, but pulling off the attack is immensely satisfying.

Bangai-O controls well and seems like a lot of fun, from what I've seen so far. I love how much happens on screen at one time and I'm equally taken with how much giant fruit needs to be picked up to keep alive (Fruit refills your health meter, obviously!). Shooter fans should keep Bangai-O HD: Missile Fury on their radar, because this action-packed downloaded has some serious potential.

Index Holdings, the company that owns Japanese game developer and publisher Atlus, dissolved the JRPG maker as an independent entity on Monday, bringing its game division under the direct control of the parent company. Whether Atlus' publishing or foreign arms will survive the transition remains to be seen. At the very least, the Atlus brand will continue, according to a short press release by the firm's public relations department.
The move came as part of an ongoing attempt by Index to narrow its business focus to a handful of core, profitable areas, and Index has apparently been making key business decision for Atlus for some time. The mobile phone-based Persona 3 social game announced earlier this month, for example, was started under orders from Index.

The holding company has made no mention of what properties or exact divisions will survive the transition. However, the director of Atlus' recently announced PS3/Xbox 360 game Catherine, Katsura Hashino, released a statement on the game's official website that didn't directly address the issue, but implied that his team, along with an unspecified number of others were not affected by the change.
