Anyone worked at Best Buy before?

The local Best Buy is having a job fair type dealy there tomorrow, I figure I'd give it a shot at trying to work there.

Anyone worked there or know someone that has and can give me an idea of what I'm getting myself into and how high up on the slave driver scale they're on?

my brother has worked their before and so have many friends - don't work in a sales commmision driven area of the store - (work in cd section) because its bs otherwise - ... my brother hated it and left and got a phone sales job at home depot.

i have a friend that works at one right now. says the pay is pretty good. but i've only seen him working the register. discount, he says, depends on the item. cds and dvds are pennies off, whereas things like tvs, stereos, car radios net you a bigger deal.

I'd be aiming for the VideoGames or DVD/VHS section of the store so I don't think I'd have to worry too much about the commission driven areas.

I also doubt I'd be buying TV's and whatnot, I just want a job :)

Not sure how good they are with commissions, but I make a pretty penny off selling things at Staples.

I do know it's one of the more hectic places to work, you can't be shy working at Best Buy.

Note: Whenever I call Best Buy to get a price quote for a customer, I alway say "You suck, Staples rules" before hanging up.

Hey, it beats working at a grocery store for a year, getting no perks, paying a union that does jack-shit for you, and watching as new employees pull in bigger checks than you do.

i think gaming, movies and music all fall into the same category. i almost always see the same four people working those 3 spots. stocking and restocking, stocking and restocking, etc...

so you'd probably get what you wanted. i should look into it too, my friend's been trying to get me to work at his BB with him for a while now.

I don't know if they do this anymore, but they do drug test for all there new employees. SO..if you smoke the reef...make sure you aren't when that comes around. That is, if you get hired.

Working at Best Buy is hell on your feet but otherwise pretty damn easy, especially if you're going to workin the media section (movies, music, computer software and games). The pay is alright, the employee discount is fantastic, and it's cool running into that occasional cool customer who you can have a really great conversation with.

I enjoyed my time there, but it was just too far from where I lived and I had to leave. Still, good times...

I don't use drugs so its all good for me.

Hell on my feet eh? Not much better than the GameStop job I've been looking into.
