Teach me some Tagalog!

I'm asking this because there are a lot of Pinoys/Pinays around where I live (and of course throughout Asia-imagine that). What are some cool and useful words and phrases that can help me get in good? (for all the right reasons!);)

If you start hearing the word, "egot" (pronounced :eh - gote) leave as soon as possible.

and when they ask where you are going for the night, simply reply "ober da bakod'

Well, Seven, you're in luck because I myself just happen to be Filipino, my parents emigrated to the states back in the 70's.

Unfortunately, Tagalog just happens to be one of those languages that is pretty easy to understand but hard as hell to speak (do primarily to some tongue-twisting pronounciation). I've been around it my whole life and still can't speak it very well, and I know it better than any of my relatives my age or younger.

I'll dispense what advice I can: If you're eating at a Pinoy household and the food is home cooked, pay your respects by saying "Salamat po, sarap nang pag ka en mo." Which basically means "Thank you, po (meaning sign of respect to elder), your food is very good."

Also if any girls ask you how they look, respond with "Maganda" which means pretty or beautiful. Sorry, it's kind of late and I don't speak the language as well as I understand it.

If you foresee some things getting nasty, I can teach you some curse words and phrases if you'd like :p

I don't know what "kita" means, but "mahal" refers to something expensive or dear to someone.
