Anyone see tonights Donahue with Michael Moore? One interesting guy(Moore). I don't know alot about Moore and I haven't seen him since way back in the day since Roger & Me. Anyone else see the show or like Mr. Moore? Who's planning to see Bowling for Columbine?

There's still a Donahue show, like Phil Donahue?
I saw it, and I like Michael Moore. He's one of the only progressive voices that actually gets heard in popular culture. His book has been on the NY Times bestseller list for something like 7 months now, which proves there is a wide audience for dissent against Bush. Of course, the news networks are too busy fawning over Donald Rumsfeld, creating neat little graphics with the American Flag and coming up with catchy titles like "Countdown: Iraq!" to notice this most of the time.
I thought the Donahue show was cool just because someone was actually asking "why" about an issue for once. If you haven't seen it, Bowling For Columbine basically asks 'why does America have 30 times more gun murders than any other industrialized country in the world? One of the things the film looks at is how the media creates a climate of fear by heavily weighing their coverage towards violence and murder (if it bleeds, it leads.) It was funny because as soon as Moore finished talking about that very thing on the show, MSNBC cut to the requisite Sniper update (complete with crosshairs graphic) and then a commercial for a show about Living In Terror In America, where the voiceover asks in that urgent, slightly menacing voice that cable news networks love so much: "terror - where will it strike next?" or something like that. It couldn't have been a more perfect illustration of Moore's point.

Well, both Donahue and Moore are all right by me, though I still haven't seen Bowling for Columbine. And, yes, a lot of the popular media are made up of pandering, fear-mongering lowlifes. I snicker every time someone mentions the "liberal news media" that supposedly dominate the press.

I get a kick out of Donahue. He's kind of an anomaly these days, what with all the knuckle-dragging gasbags that dominate airtime on the cable news networks.
Oh, and saying flat-out that a television personality whose view you disagree with for political reasons should "die" is just stupid, and is an excellent example of why our nation's political discourse is so fucked up.

And me saying he should "die" was me expressing my distaste for the man and his particular brand of "interviewing."
