Clone Wars

I thought Starfighter was OK, but not something I would have wanted to drop fifty bucks on, so I'm suspicious of this one too.

I hear the framerate is dreadful, and there are some sketchy 3rd-person lightsaber sequences.

Any impressions yet?

Very arcadey vehicle combat shooter. At its best, it really feels like you're in the middle of a huge war, thanks to all the units and chaos going off around you. There's a sweet level where you are marching in formation with those big walkers and they're blowing up everything in sight.

You can believe IGN when they say that its a solid and pure 3D shooter. You can also believe them when they say that the game has its technical limitations.

The frame rate is acceptable, considering how much stuff they're throwing at you on screen. If you have to have 60fps all the time, don't touch this.

Jedi levels flat out suck, but they're mercifully short.

Is clone wars made by the same team of people who made the Starfighter games? I loved those games personaly, call me crazy, but I just really thought they played great. If they are indeed made by the same guys I will need to rent Clone Wars.

Nope. Starfighter was made by LucasArts, and Clone Wars was made by Pandemic Studios, makers of PC games like Battlezone 1 & 2 (one of Next Gen's 50 best games of all time, and one of my all time favorites).

Seriously though, this game is way better than Starfighter. Starfighter had some blah, ho-hum mission design. Clone Wars has better mission design than Starfighter and even Rogue Leader. There, I said it.

I played that level that you're talking about, and it's cool to look at, but... there are many parts that are much better than that. Example: first part of Thule Moon, which is hectic.

The framerate isn't great, but I don't think it gets in the way of the game.

If Clone Wars really sucks I can go egg Pandemic's office. Its not too far from where I am at. Battlezone was amazing, Battlezone II was ass, Army Men RTS was ass, etc. I hope Clone Wars is good because these ARE capable people.

Well, I just watched the trailer for Cube version, and it looked just average.

i'll buy it cause i heard it plays like and is done by the same team that did battlezone for the pc...one of my fav games, even today...

I will buy it after...after, AHHHHH fuck, I will buy it now.

I have a hard time believing it's better than the incredible Factor 5 developed Rogue Leader, but I still want to check it out. What's so bad about the lightsaber levels?
