Well folks, I picked this up along with my X, and I finally got around to putting down JSRF and HotD3 to play it last night. I played through a couple of levels... and my current opinion is that the game is complete and utter ass. The controls are completely screwed up, and so far it just doesn't seem very interesting. Now I know that there's alot of lovers of this game here... I want to know why. Is it going to be worth my while to keep playing it? Does it get better?
I picked up Gun Valkyrie when it first came out. Oddly enough, I had no troubles with the control, and I thought jetting about the environments was pretty fun. But I didn't like the game's level designs and the shooting stuff just bored me. I sold it.
Recently, I had the opportunity to pick it up again for incredibly cheap... I did. It can be fun, but its not a game I'm really in love with.

The first two levels are pretty boring, especially your first time through. I never had a problem with the controls myself...It's only when you figure out how to stay in the air consistently that the true game reveals itself. As you get closer and closer to the end, the level designs just become amazing, or to me at least. My only gripes with the game are that I wish the story were fleshed out a bit more, and it's a bit too short. Otherwise, it's one of my top 10 of all time. Oh, I also love Maeda's music, so that's a plus. :D
If after getting through Naglfar's Pit #1 you still think the game sucks, I'd be surprised and saddened. :(
I own Gun Valkyrie but got board with it, I didn’t fined the game very fun.
The controls get easier as you play the game, you just have to give it time. In essence the game is the control scheme...the enemies never get overly that difficult, nor is there excessive puzzle solving or exploring. Think about it, if this game had a generic FPS controlls it would be really, really boring.
Anyway, I like the game because of the complex controls and the Metroid-esque atmosphere. Of course I could be totaly wrong about most of what I just said, seeing as how I've never finished Nafalgers Pit 2.:rolleyes:
Gunvalk rocks if you ask me, it does have a learning curve though. It takes a little time to cnsitatly fly about, you can manage the first few levels pretty easy using basic moves, but latter on you'll need to sharpen your skills. Naglfars Pit #1 blew me out of the water. Its so atmospheric and amazing, its one of the single greatest levels in video game history. Nothing in any game is like it. I say give it more of a shot, but its really not for everyone.
So how far in is this Naglfars Pit?
The only real puzzle solving or exploring to be done is to make sure you get all the Haley's Cores so you can unlock the Kelly 3 suit. I love that suit. :D
I'd say Naglfar's #1 is about 3 hours into the game, perhaps a bit less if you pick the controls up pretty fast.
