They certainly have some talented artists.

The distros in the "Akihabara circle" were telling me something about this. Details are bleak at this point, but seems to hold promise.

Maybe it's another "people shooter" a la Guwange and ESPrade.

Another game that will probably will never come home :(

What do you mean by release specs? If you mean a date, I'm not sure one has even been given for the PS2 port.

Hey, any new shooter is a good one. Unless it's Night Raid, apparently. I believe the rumors flying around were saying Dai-ou-jou was to hit the jap PS2 before the end of the year. Who knows though.

The only new thing I've heard from Arika is that it's
hiring part-time workers to "monitor" the port of ddpDOJ.

i think it will be a shmup because it can't be a puzzle game
or a mini games compilation (judging from the promo poster at least).
could be a gun shooting or platformer but i doubt it.

Here's my optimism that Ketsui will not be a Night Raid- Cave knows their stuff.

Ketsui footage and the latest in Japanese hair styles now available at the Symphony.

Looks great... Looks to have a nice visual style, of what I can see.

This is great news and all but seeing that it's most likely not going to be released outside of Japan and won't be ported to home (like most other Cave shmups), I can't get too excited.

There is a two page spread in the Jan. issue of Arcadia... No female charcters this time around.

There are four male characters: two 'Type-A' and two 'Type-B'.

The poster boy is a Type-A. There are three spiffy screens and the character art is, as you can probably guess, very well done.

That's about all I can make out.

If DDP DOJ does well over there, there is no reason that this won't come home next. It would be so great if this started a trend of successive cave games coming home. Just think if all their games came home from now on.

Here's hoping Ketsui is a hit in the arcades. Cave seems to be promoting it pretty well.

It was pretty much a given that DDPDOJ would hit on some console or another. As for the IGS-developed DoDonPachi 2 not appearing (the one that Cave only lent the DDP to)... I'm guessing that one was not so hot.

The stage 2 map and enemies look nice.

I hope their next game is guwange style, but I don't know if that was all that popular.

You can bet your ass is wasn't. I played it on vacation in London for a short period of time and the gameplay was a joke. You could combo without even trying. Chains in the hundreds could be racked up without even realizing it. Talk about taking away the essence of Donpachi...

If you at all liked Sancho Pedro from 19XX, this boss will definitely remind you of it.

I think I'll pick this up if it comes home...but your eternal optimism is a bit stifling.

Now this looks very interesting- I've heard of the game obviously, but I hadn't seen those stage maps. I'd really like to play this and see how well that works or not.

Yep. You battle against a fighter just like yours! (minus the cool weapons). It's a pain in the ass to bring down, though.

Dang it all! Everytime I see this thread updated I'm hoping to read that it's getting a home port. This thread's becoming quite the tease :(

It looks to me like you need a Japanese cell phone to purchase the soundtrack which you can preorder from June 2 11 AM and it will officially be on sale June 11 at 3 PM. Looks like if you dont know anyone or aren't in Japan you are out of luck....

The prices this goes for on auction are probably going to be "eVil". I blame Sega Direct for starting these exclusive distribution channel things. It's a shame the Border Down ST is only available through them.

I was able to get a direct capture from the board itself. I have a (better quality) video if anyone wants. It's about 30MB, though.

DogS said something about it being ported to cell phones. Funny thing is that the newest Arcadia actually does state that this will happen (along with DDPDOJ as well). I really hope that the console port does happen.

Now that is one small board. A Taito F3 system looks gargantuan in comparison.

I seriously doubt Cave would use CPS3. If anyone wants to go with a third party platform for 2D games, they may as well use the Naomi- since as we all know, it's still kicking.

I'm guessing DDPDOJ & Ketsui could be running on the DDP hardware, but probably with something faster than the original 16 MHz 68000. Dual 68000, perhaps?

that pic of the Ketsui pcb,would that by chance be the one X bought for me(it can't come soon enough),I heard he took it round your house before shipping it?Regarding the lack of the metal case,being a bit of a completest I would have liked the case as well(have to make do with the pcb and original sheets),I'am just slightly concerned about the lack of the case/fan,I take it it is not a necessity to have this,could you shed some light?Is it a unit with a built in fan?Is it possible to buy these cases seperately?

I don't think it's possible to get separate cases. It baffles me as to why some do have cases and some don't. After all, this game is only six months old.

You don't have to worry about not having a fan, though. Just get some legs, and you're good to go.

thx for the reply,I'am thinking that it is just a matter of the cases only being supplied to arcade establishments where the machines are in constant use(hence the added precaution),where as those being sold to private users won't be subjected to such prolonged periods of play,hence no need for the added protection ???
With this thinking can you tell me if DDP DJO comes in the blue case when sold in both Mak and G Front,as from what I can work out only Mak supplies the case with the Ketsui?
Kind of forming the impression(although I have never been to Japan)that Mak tends to sell more complete and better condition original stuff with G Front a slightly more affordable but down market(bad choice of thrase,sorry)shop,would this be right? I've seen 4 auctions in total on Jap Yahoo for DDP DJO and everytime it as come with the case.Its just plain weird.

Looking at the interest the title has generated after release I'd say that there's a big chance that you would end up disapointed, me, I love the game and make sure you try it out as soon as it's emulated.

And Cave should make these kind of things instead of just and ordinary attract mode, it's corny and fun and I think that's a thing that has been lacking these past years, no engrish is also a bummer.
No need for story sequences in the middle of the game like in Giga Wing for example but I think we all would appreciate a little more meat on our games, like the intros for Guwange.

Yea I would pick up a port as soon as it hit the streets if only for the practice mode. While I'm not saying the game is easy, you can ignore the fundamentals of the game up to stage 5 where you really have to memorize enemies and be in their face as soon as they appear on screen.
