Ey Bern-D, how do you fight the 1-4 boss with Valpiro? Specifically, the 1st form... I usually fire a charged shot with Marion or Alucard after dodging those three "curved line" shots by the boss. I can't really do it with Valpiro.
I started using him and it's both easier and harder than using Marion...

the very top of the screen. Once I see those four turrets,
I punch the three turrets on the left and carry that punch
over to the fourth. If any turrets remain, I just shoot
them. Then I just dodge until the first form
self-destructs.
Remember, my primary goal is to survive. I just leave those
side turrets alone, so I don't add needless bullets
on-screen. I don't know how to deal with them any other
way.
I don't have a good plan for the Robo form, either. Once it
spreads its wings, I punch at the legs. For the next two
attacks, I just dodge and shoot suitably. Then I bomb the
two winder attacks because Valpiro's too slow to dodge them
easily. After that, I punch the boss twice and it's over.
I plan to leave the boss's legs on so that it fires its
"easier" winder attack, but I don't know how to do that
yet.
599,100 - Bern-D / Valpiro 1-6
Finally died to the Stage 1-6 midboss, first attack. How
embarassing.
Oh, and Mode, I think Valpiro has enough time to punch
those two statues before they can attack. It almost worked
fine, but I hesitated for a moment dealing with the
lower-right statue. But I dodged its easy attack anyway.
I'm still working on that Stage 1-4 bird form. I could
dodge the legged winder all right, but I still have to
deal with the two legless winders. Maybe I need to punch
it again to force it to change form sooner.
Umm, here's my 18 Chain... (and, uh, Mode7, I think the Chain chart might be 'neater' if the number was first, followed by the name... not unlike the score chart... :sweat: )
Here's a pic of my score with Valpiro right after I beat the 1-4 boss. I dunno why I felt I had to take a pic... maybe it was just the nice, round number...

Just stopping by the undergraduate's library to post my
score. I need to relax after this exhilirating run, anyway.
I thought I had memorized the motions needed to dodge
the 1-6 boss's laser attacks, but the boss moves so
quickly. Of course, I wasted my last life on that.
Correction on the statues part in 1-6. The timing is too
tight to destroy the two statues with the Valpiro Punch.
Better to learn the attacks and dodge them.
Any tips on going through the first attack of the second
form of the 1-6 boss? I understand I have to find a crevice
in front of the boss, but the pattern keeps shoving me to
the bottom of the screen. How do I prevent this?
Also, how do I dodge the 1-6 mid-boss's almond-bullet
pattern? I tried to perform the same moves that Tavia did
in that expert play, but Valpiro's too slow to mimic
that...
Not to steal any of Bern-D's thunder, but I finally (finally!) beat that 1-5 boss! Once I figured out how to dodge those 2-3-4s, it really wasn't that bad. I didn't realize just how small those dodges have to be! :eek: Of course, I didn't even get past the initial wave of enemies... :bs:

I must once again thank you for that link to the video... I'm disgusted by that player's skill. Hot damn.
It has also forced me to return to Tavia and forget Valpiro...
I will miss the punch, but man.... I don't know why I ever left Tavia... She's great.

Yeah, thanks Bern-D for the link. I started my download about 3 hours ago, watched the 20 or so minutes, and walked around the house in circles for about 5 minutes. Sick sick sick. I love how that guy plays... so precise! I cannot believe how high that coin chain went! And above all the player used Tavia (!) and demonstrated the latent abilities of her vicinity attack. It seems Tavia is really the only choice for those with supreme god-like skill and reflexes. Man... Tavia rules.

658,100 - Bern-D / Valpiro 1-6
In Stage 1-6, aphrodite expects me to earn the extend after
destroying the first form of the boss; I can get the extend
just after the jars scene. But the midboss wastes my final
life. For the moment, I'm coin chaining throughout the game
so I can earn that extend earlier and have a better chance
of getting through that midboss. Arr...
669,800 - Bern-D / Valpiro 1-6
I would like to point out this: either it's my imagination
or 1-4 boss's legless winder and loose bullet spray is more
manageable if I power down once at the end of the stage trip.
Also, does coin chaining increase rank? I powered down
twice at the beginning of 1-6, but those small spinning
drones still fired 5-2 bullet formations instead of a
simple 5-way one.
