1,030,900 - Bern-D / Alucard 2-1
My first death arrived in the 1-3 U.S. stage. Died at a
dumb place, too--the shop with six turrets on its roof. So
I lost 5 bombs. Basically, I salvaged my game through more
selective bombing. Wipe out the most difficult attacks with
the bomb, and dodge the patterns I've practiced at home.
That paid off well...
Did anyone happen to keep GAL's second-loop videos? I need
ones from Stage 2-4 (gb2-4.mpg), 2-America (gb2-a.mpg), and
2-England (gb2-e.mpg).

I would just like to say that both "Original 1" and "Original 2" are not only horrible to watch, they also play differently! Well, I'm sure Original 2 is ok, but Original 1 actually limits your movement! No wonder gemheads and dodging the first wave of shots from the 1-5 boss was near impossible...
Also, is it actually possible to dodge the first wave of shots (and the double shot that follows) from the 2nd form of the 1-6 boss by staying in the middle? I mean, I can lure it to the side and then carefully dodge by going back to the middle (which is really not that hard), but then I'm afraid I won't be able to dodge the next wave. It seemed surprisingly easy in that Galford video, but Tavia dodges that double shot by staying in the middle. I mean, did she have to use her Beam Saber to destroy those shots first? :confused:

I start in the center and move slowly to the left - I can't really explain it (the pattern is kind of instinctual), but I end up sliding right up against the left side of the screen when I'm popping out of the other side. I delay just enough so the boss can't follow me close enough to hit me with its beams.Quote:

Then I bomb! (second wave is too much)
I'd really like to finish this once my school stuff is done... Got so close a few times.

sidestep the lasers. In the center, there is a safe spot
among the first rings of bullets. From the bottom of the
screen, it's a little over one of Alucard's height. The
last ring of bullets will hit you, though, so when those
bullets tap your head, move quickly to the bottom edge, and
they will pass through you there.

I think the player in that video wanted more time to dive
into that crevice. But that's unnecessary if you can find
the safe spot. I think it's better to find it anyway, since
you don't need to do so much joystick tapping to stay
inside the crevice.
For the attack that follows, all you need is a few taps of
the joystick, but I've yet to figure out what landmarks you
should watch to time your dodges.
I'll work on these attacks on Wednesday night, and I'll
give you details if you still need them. I have to figure
these out, too. :)
Oh yeah, and do you guys plan on tackling the second loop?
No way, it's all bonus to me. I'll be moving on to other Psikyo shooters, finishing up Zero Gunner 2 and probably Strikers 1999 after that. I also have Ikaruga and Mars Matrix, which I'd like to put more time into.Quote:

I'll definitely focus one the second loop, but I need to finish the first...first. I like Gunbird 2 too much to just drop it after that. Oh what I'd give if Psikyo would make part 3.
Thanks for the tips guys... and no, given my lack of skill, I think I'll be happy with just clearing the first round. Perhaps I'll work on a zero-bomb game; I know I still go a little bomb-crazy when facing that America stage boss in 1-3! :sweat:
Ikaruga is now back on my list of things to get, now that I've gotten Mega Man Zero. :cool:

I'm not totally thrilled about this, since I died at two very stupid parts, the first being at the 1-6 gemhead :o , and the 2nd at the first wave of shots from the 2nd form of the 1-6 boss. I also bombed when I actually did dodge that diamond pattern, which kinda really sucked. And what's weird is that I beat that boss with a bomb! :eek: My Gunbird 2-playing friend was right there with me, so that was nice. :)
My experience in 1-7 was of course short lived. Still, I believe I did beat danhaigh (which happened to be my long-term goal), so uh, you know, ha ha :p ha ha lololol :p lol.
