Laptop in Peril! The search for the missing hal.dll!
Lemme first start by explaining that my college requires laptops in order to attend the school. The one they include in tuition by default is a ThinkPad T30 running on WinXP Professional.
Now, randomly today, I got a Pagefault blue screen of death which reset my computer. I, as well as every other student in my school, am used to that sort of thing by now, but what I wasn't used to was the message saying that I am missing or a have a corrupted hal.dll file. I did a little research on my stupid crud family computer and found that it's easily fixable by booting from CD and changing some boot.ini stuff. Only problem is, I don't have a CD, the school does. I know I can probably go in tomorrow and fix it, but if anyone has a magical way I can boot this thing without said disc, it would be most appreciated...
