Wait... So, I can't call them "Prince of Persia Platformers" anymore? Damnit.
EGP sounds nice to me.
Boring.
*rimshot* . . . sorry, sorry
I think Adventure Platformer is fairly descriptive of them, and isn't very long.
Again, it's not a glamorous name but they're "flickscreen adventures." Just ignore this post too and I'll post the answer again later: "flickscreen adventures." Your minds should retain it the third time. If not I'll post it a fourth time, and so on.
Enviornmental Puzzlers.
Precision Platformer is still the best. Sounds good, and is fairly accurate.
I refer to it as step action, due to how you have to make commands with the character's animation. Some games work with it, others (like tomb raider) seem broken.
APP sounds good, but how do we actually define it? I mean if we base it on Prince of Persia's style, isn't it generally the same thing as calling it a Prince of Persia type game?
I'm with you here. But if we never did sub generas then Resident Evil would still be an action adventure game (ala Alone in the Dark when it first came out.)Quote:

I still like "Side-scrolling Adventure."
