Ew, IDBTN. I've eaten that shit from birth, and it makes me want to throw up; not to mention you can't spread it on your sandwhich without ripping your bread.Quote:

It goes by the principle that all Pyramiding (the accepted workout style for decades) does it tire out your muscles with high-rep sets, so that by the time you get to the heavier rep range that actually builds the muscle and strength (6-8 reps), you're already a little worn out and can't go as heavy as you really could. Strength and size are connected, after all. You want to bet bigger muscles, you gotta get stronger. Max O-T is almost the exact opposite idea as Pyramiding.Quote:

Your first 2-3 sets should be light warm-ups. First set, I do an easy 15 reps, just to get the blood flowing. Now, by this point I've already rode the stationary bike for 5 minutes and stretched for 5 more. My second set is with a heavier weight, just to get the muscles used to what's coming. Say, a weight you can do for a really easy 5-6 reps. Some people do a third warm-up set, but 2's enough for me. Then I go right to a weight I can do for, say, 8 reps (to failure). Keep with that weight for 3 sets, and ONLY lighten the weight if you find yourself slipping below 6 reps. Otherwise, stick with it. My reps this morning were 8, 7, 5. Once you start getting 9-10 reps on your first set with a certain weight, it's time to add more. This workout has been working great for me so far. Just remember to warm-up on the first exercise you do.
Anyway, you don't need to warm up on the second exercise you do. Normally, after bench press, I go on to incline dumbbell presses, 3 sets with a weight I can do for about 8 reps the initial set. My reps were (I think) 8, 7, 6. Once again, never lower weight unless you start slipping below 6 reps. And only then, just drop 5 pounds or so. Just enough to keep your reps in the right range.
Then, on to incline dumbbell flyes, 3 sets, 7, 6, 6 reps.
Finally, finished things off with 2 sets of pec-deck flyes. I think I got 7, 6 reps.
If you find yourself going too low on the reps on your last set, another thing I like to do is a strip set. Just strip some weight off the bar (or grab lighter dumbbells) after you fail on a set and grind out a few more reps. Only do this on the last set of any given exercise, however. It's great.
Okay, I've blabbed enough. Any questions, ask.
That's true. Stop eating crap, and it's amazing how fast you'll forget about it.Quote:

It depends which kind you get, and if it is too hard, you put it in the microwave. You store it in the refrigerator upside-down anyway, so it always goes in the microwave unless you like it hard and cold.Quote:

There are a lot of things that we do, that we learn from society, that is bad for us. Yes there are certain things about it that are common sense, but imo there are also other important things that are not. An example would be like the thing with working one area to burn fat in that area. For some folks, that is "common sense." But if you talk to anyone in the know, you find out it is a health myth.Quote:

EDIT: I looked over what I said yesterday. I probably didn't say what I had to say in the best way possible. I think there are two accepted meanings of common sense. The generic meaning, "shit you just know" and the official meaning of "the basic knowledge of the world, that most people have." I went with the first one, which is very subjective, and this being TNL, kind of pointless. I recognize my folly and apologize to anyone that gave two shits about said post.
So Dyne, please quit trolling the thread by calling people morons. This thread is for people to discuss how to get healthy and things that relate to that, not for you to insult people because you "feel" they should know things.
I've (my parents) have always gotten Adams brand. It's a hard decision now that I've been eating fake peanut butter. It's easy to spread but just doesn't taste as real. What brand do you get? I might have to try this...Quote:

So what's a good way to lose fat then? Or should I re-read this thread and see if I can find that kind of answer elsewhere?Quote:

If I fo pyrmading I can do 65 for the first two sets (14 and 10) then hit a 70 for the third without too many problems. I'm just going to cycle through with 5's (so next week do 65,70 and 75 for the three sets then the week after do 70, 75 and 80) untill I hit a plataue.
If shit starts to fall apart maybe I'll try your way. But honestly, it's really hard to convince me to change.
