Announcing the TNL > Reader Review Monthly Giveaways!

Hey there, gang!

Our <b>Reader Reviews</b> board has been well into full swing for just a bit over two months. Now it's time to make all that participation worth your while. How's that? With prizes of course!

Starting next week, TNL will be rewarding selected forum patrons with some cool goodies (more to come in the coming weeks). We're starting off simple with the type of prizes we believe everyone's eager about - music CDs and games!

So, how does this all work out? And if you're new to the scene, how can you get involved?? Here's the dilly...

To be eligible, your reader review must be of a recent game. While we welcome all types of reviews for the forum. TNL will only consider games released in the past (2) months at the time of each respective contest announced. Example: Games released from Sep 11, 2002 up until the present. Reader reviews for all next-generation platform are acceptable entries, including the Xbox, Gamecube, and PS2). PS One, Game Boy Advance/Color and PC are also valid. (Sorry retro fans). All valid entries considered will then be randomly selected in a drawing for the contest giveaway!

• When posting your game review (read: creating the thread). It must be in the following format to be considered...(note: first impressions are not eligible for giveaways)

  All other formats such as "my review or my impressions of..." will not be considered.
  
• Look over your work -- meaning spell-check it. Copy/paste it in word,...but a reader review plagued with typos can not be considered. Plus these are also being featured on the main page.
  
• Winners previously selected are only eligible once per month. If you this month...you are not eligible for any other Reader Review giveaways until the following month. In addition, attempts to create other accounts in order to increase your chances of eligibility is strictly prohibited. Finally, and most importantly - existing reviews are not eligible for consideration - only reviews composed as of Nov. 11th which are DATED in your subject title. (This is why it's important that the date is included).

The prizes have been made available through various developer/publishers. No reader review will ever get the same prize -- unless stated directly. We'll always endeavor to give you something that we're certain you'll like - but if you don't...how you choose to part with it is up to you! Just don't complain to us about it! :)

We have several promotional items to give away which will be officially announced throughout the boards and TNL Headlines. The first Reader Review contest will be announced Monday morning. But you don't have to wait until next week to get started.

Damn it, right after I posted Hitman 2 and Sega GT 2002 reviews :p Ah well, I've got Shenmue 2 and MGS2:S to work on I guess...

Seems pretty cool, I'll be posting a review for Legaia 2 soon then, since I got the game sent to me by Eidos today.

How recent would you consider 'recent'?

If it's not recent enough to have had a price drop, then I suppose I'll have to stick with GBA games.

Bacon: Sorry for not elaborating further. We are only considering games that are no older than two months (from Sept. until now --- anything released before that will not be considered) as of next week. This doesn't mean that participants who regularly post can not post older games, this only applies for the contest. This allows the submissions to be more competitive...

What about import reviews for consoles not listed in that list? For example, Japanese Dreamcast games, which are still being released here and there. Sure, the DC might not be as "next-gen" as the Xbox, but it certainly was part of the current generation in my book.

Hell, what about import review in general? And Arcade?

Not that I've got any to review, but I'd definitely like to read some. I'm sure I'm not the only one, either.

DC and arcade aren't on the list, so I'd have to say that they're not eligible. I'm also inclined to think that we won't be considering import reviews.

The reason behind this is not that we have anything against imports, but that we don't think our contest sponsors would be happy if import reviews were included. Anyone is still welcome to write an import review, of course - I just don't think they will be considered.

No unfortunately, they are not...which makes the contests much more challenging for those with current systems in the North America/Canada market.

Hey, I definitely will. I don't have Contra yet. And I meant the prizes in general, not just his week - although if you want to send me multiple copies of the game, I wouldn't complain. They'd go nicely towards the Metroid Prime trade-in fund.

I was just wondering it was the stuff you've already reviewed that you were giving away. I mean heck, they're still free games, I just wasn't sure whether I'd be getting a disc with the word "contra" written in sharpie on the front.
