EDIT - OK i am an idiot for not seeing that link to the topic made in the forums about it. Looks like it is true. Here's hoping my Target is one of the cool ones. I don't even care if I can't play yet, I just want to have a better chance at getting my desired Gamertag

According to these people you actually can go ahead and play the Retail demos online right now, there just isn't many people who have picked it up yet. All I want is for it to be at Target when I go tomorrow...damn here's hoping

Well, Ebgames.com has had it listed for Nov. 5th ship date, so this is entirely possible. From everything I've seen on the beta boards at xbox.com, the retail beta includes the communicator and a demo disc with MotoGP and Whacked. Here's to hoping that the next OXM demo disc has online playable demos. :)

Update: Ok folks, here's what you get with the retail kit:
Communicator, Demo Disc/Live Disc. The demo disc has demos of MotoGP and Whacked, and movies of Darkmaster, Mech Assault, and Fever 2003. The retail kit is not compatible with the beta kits; i.e., if Werewolf and I are playing the beta MotoGP and you jump online with the retail MotoGP, you won't see us. Beta testers are apparently on a different server. Bad news for beta testers: the retail GP will have a new leader board, so it'll be time to scrape to the top of the scoreboard again. Beta testers should be getting their retail kits by the middle of next week IF you updated your address via the link MS sent out a week ago.
Some Target stores have gotten the kits early, but there is some confusion about whether or not you can do anything with the retail kit besides sign up for your gamer tag. There are conflicting reports about whether or not the demos are locked until the 14th, but several beta testers are claiming they can play the retail version of GP. If you have NFL 2k3 or Whacked, you can play Live once you've signed up. GP is most likely the same way. Fever Live will be unlocked on the 14th. I think that's everything. Dammit, why can't MS release Mech Assault early! And where the bloody hell is PSO????
