Very possible, I wouldn't fault you for that. It's easy to miss the finer points. It wasn't until I saw it played compotently that I really understood it.

Alien Soldier is awesome. If you like Gunstar Heroes, you will probably like Alien Soldier.

I would say it's the second best import-only Genesis game. The first being Monster World IV.

Am I a complete idiot?

I used to own the Japanese version of Alien Soldier, and I sold it on usenet for $35 about 6 years ago.

I guess I'm a idiot, but how was I to know then how much it would be worth now?

Not especially. The meat of the game is in platforming stages, and there's a walkthrough to keep you pointed in the right direction available at GameFAQs. Excellent game, by the way.

It's interesting...MWIV has been very expensive in Japan for a while (like $100+ expensive), at the same time, its value in the US didn't come close to matching the price in Japan. Hell, I got my copy for $20, and I saw several go on ebay for that price. But now, by means of hype or simply perceived value, people have been paying more and more for it on ebay. The last copy that went up sold for $89, which is rather ridiculous - this game is great, but it's not worth THAT much.

moreso than previous games in the series, but not so much as to be prohibitave. Still, I'd recomend playing Demi's translation hack. It's quite good, and the game's more enjoyable that wat.
