If I manage an all clear I'll put the replay up. 5-2 is all sorts of painful, though.
I'm quite disappointed with Shikigami right now.
You know the time counter? It's cumulative. Meaning the quicker you go (i.e. dispense with bosses), the more time you'll have as you progress into the latter stages.
So what, right?
It is possible to milk the 5-1 boss for an obscene amount of points and, more importantly, a full stock of bombs and lives (indispensable heading into 5-2). But in order to do so you need plenty of time.
In other words, I have to choose between either flexing the skills and creative playing I've honed thus far or skill-lessly burning my way up to 5-1 in order to milk the boss and actually stand a chance of clearing the game.
In a word: broken.

Lost my final life in a fairly retarded fashion, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway seeing that -- as predicted -- I would have timed out shortly thereafter and ate the roaming death-heads anyway.
Echo! Echo!

Normally wouldn't post for such a slight improvement, but it's awfully nice to drop that 5-2 juggernaut. With 2 lives in stock, nonetheless.
The perpetual countdown is actually kind of clever. At least it would be if it didn't devolve the game into a rush-to-the-richest-milk sprint. I think I've managed to strike some sort of healthy compromise between the counter and setting up for agreeable extend points, however. Thanks mainly to excessive bomb use, mind, but at least it keeps the milking to a minimum.

Final sequence seems to start at 71 seconds no matter what, so 5-2 boss could have been milked at least a couple rounds longer.
So, much room for improvement. But I'm too pleased with myself to particularly care.
For those interested, a replay is available at the Symphony.
If I remember correctly, the JPN Shikigami high score was 1.8 billion. Meaning Mode can become Heavyweight Champion of the World at will.
You're a fucking God, man.

Good work. I never could figure out the 5-2 boss so I gave it up, but I'd like to see how it's done. Any chance that you could put up just 5-1 through 5-3? The full replay is impossible for us poor 56kers.
is that the first American one-cred of Shikigami?
