Gigučre is actually just a really good goalie. He's very underrated and rather unknown because he plays in Anaheim. I'd take him over super-overrated CuJo anyday. ;)
SHUT UP! ALL OF YOU!! I SAID 6 GAMES!!! It can still happen!!!Quote:
I wouldn't, but maybe it's because I don't know enough of him. CuJo has never actually one a Vesna trophy or lord stanley, but I truly believe that goalies shouldn't be measured like that, because Cujo is a great goalie.Quote:

He's no Hasek, but he's great.
I'd say that CuJo is the most overrated goaltender in the game (now that no-one "rates" Richter anymore, anyway). Those two guys have a lot in common. They're both flashy and have very good reflexes, but they don't play the position that well. They're not technically sound. That's why they tend to have such mixed results. CuJo is just as likely to steal a series (like he did in Edmonton a few times) as give one away (so far versus Anaheim).Quote:

The expression I always use about goalies is that the good ones make the hard saves look easy and the bad ones make the easy saves look hard.
Making easy saves look hard is the trademark of both CuJo and Richter, and that tends to impress less knowledgable fans. That's how they get overrated.
...
Gigučre, on the other hand, is inexperienced but very very sound. He plays a style very similar to his hero - Martin Brodeur (aka the best goaltender ever). I think he's an up and coming star. :)
You're wrong; I think you've been missing too many Leafs playoff series over the years to watch the Devils or something ;) . All I can tell you is that the Leafs wouldn't have been out of the first round for the last several years without him.Quote:

They play these long stretches where they go into a shell and basically do nothing, and Cujo would be a bullseye in a shooting gallery. He bailed them out so many times, it's not funny. It doesn't matter if he'd have the occasional 5 goal game, because most of those games wouldn't have even taken place if he wasn't superman in the previous games.
The Leafs aren't going anywhere with Belfour, and no matter how shakey Cujo looked last game, he's still better, "winner" or not.
I want Joseph back...stupid cheapass Leafs management

Yes, like I said.. he has excellent reflexes and when he is on his game he can bail a team out or even steal a game or series. The problem is that he relies far too heavily on his reflexes and thus he does not actually play his position well. Smart teams find ways to beat him. He is unpredictable and is prone to breaking down. He's just as likely to hurt his team just as much as bail them out, and truth be told, he's done plenty of both.Quote:

I can't stand Belfour and he can be a bit shakey and unpredictable at times (especially when he's hopped up on cough medicine) but he's a far better goaltender than CuJo is/was. He's a champion and a more proven performer.Quote:

*wait for Dyne to show up*
If the Leafs don't go anywhere it's because they have no discipline and a team full of cheap dirty players and a goon coach. :p
That was all an illusion.Quote:

Is that why he was on the Dallas bench last year? The only way the Leafs are going anywhere this year is if they somehow get to play Ottawa again.Quote:

Hey, that's old-time hockey! Seriously though, there's only 3 ways to get anywhere in the NHL playoffs right now - 1. be a superstar team stacked with hall of famers who can play multiple styles in the same game, like the Red Wings 2. play the trap like the world's most boring hockey team, the Devils, or 3. goon squad!!Quote:

Since #1 seems out of reach while the Leafs are managed by the Ontario teachers' pension fund, the most entertaining option left is #3. Can't wait until Tucker gets back! Toronto demands blood!!
Well, I don't think they'll win it with Belfour either. He had a very good regular season (and bailed out the Leafs as much as CuJo used to) but he may well be past his prime. I am just saying he's the better and more accomplished of the two.Quote:

Um. When was the last time a good squad won the Stanley Cup? 1974? :pQuote:

Also, it's a misnomer that the Devils always play a boring style. Under Pat Burns they do, but in the past they have not. It was only two years ago that they lead the entire NHL in scoring. Besides, I'd rather play boring tactically sound and responsible hockey and win than be an exciting firewagon team that wins sweet FA. Losing does not excite me much. :)
What are you talking about? The Leafs payed him the 9 million he asked for and he still left. He just wants the cup, which is a respectible goal.Quote:

Leafs vs. Red Wings is my dream Stanley Cup final.

I like my hockey exciting, but every team has their strengths and weaknesses. Toronto does complain a lot, but they do have a solid hockey team. I like Cujo more than Belfour, but it's not because of his skill. I just think he's cooler, on and off the ice.
Also, Belfour out-did Cujo's record this year, so technically he is the better goalie...
CuJo + Tonight = 'Nuff said. :p
