I lost a close relative last night....
Well, I don't know who would care, but I guess I'll be going home sooner than I expected. I lost one of my favorite relatives last night...my aunt, Francis. She died in her sleep. Her last words before she went to sleep were simply...."I'm tired". She was just about 50 years old.
She's been bedridden for at least 20 years now ( she had a severe arthritis flare up when she was younger ) but it never got her down. She was one of the most kind, honest, caring, and thoughtful people I've ever known. Our side of the family was a close-knitted one. There were 7 of us ( now there's more, my sister has 3 children ) and we were all EXTREMELY close. She was always proud of me, and helped me out when I needed her, and vice-versa. I never EVER saw helping to take care of her as a burden....I always enjoyed her company, and the little talks that we had about what was going on. She was always happy to hear from me when I called, or would never mind being disturbed when I made my surprise visits. I'm choking back tears now as I read this..... :(
I was hoping to get released from my Tour of Duty early, but not like this...I'd have rather done the time over here than to have this happen. I just hope that my grandmother and rest of my family are doing fine....I talked to them earlier this morning, but I have to go see them in person.
Well, I've got to get ready to go now. Thanks for stopping by and reading this. I'll talk to everyone a little later.
Rest in peace, Aunt Francis.
