Review: Castlevania: Harmony of Dissonance

Can't get enough of Castlevania? Looks like Sqoon had his cup of tea (and no he's not jaded).

The only complaint I don't agree with is the auto-save function. In a portable game, it's necessary to have an auto-save function. Otherwise, I agree that Harmony of Dissonance isn't nearly as good as Symphony of the Night or Circle of the Moon.

I'm taking all the Konami reviews around here from now on... We give Sunshine an A and this game a B-? Even EGM got that comparison right...

Excellent review, Sqoon.

I love Konami as much as you do, Yoshi, but my fondness for the Castlevania series is far from unconditional. Sqoon quite eloquently echoes my own thoughts on HoD.

Nice review, even though I don't agree with your grade. I find the game satisfying, if not challenging, and I think easier Castlevanias tend to take a beating. Still, you justified your points well.

I like brutally honest reviews. This review is just more than harsh, though. I guess Konami was afraid to mess with the "tried-and-true" formula of SoTN, right down to the blanco coiffed hero. After the horror of the mundane n64 Castlevania, I'd also attempt to go back to forumla.
But why did was Boss Battle mode totally disregarded? It really made a wonderful addition to the game, even if the bosses were hideously easy.

My biggest pet peeve about magazines and websites is when they reveal the unlockables. (I really regret reading the Ape Escape 2 preview in EGM...)
