Since everyone and their brother makes a poll here, it's my turn to jump on the bandwagon after 15 months. So who here is getting Xbox Live this week? Btw, if you're a beta tester, just choose which game you plan on getting when Live, er, goes live.

I might get it... oh wait I have it already :)
I need to get a game now though and since PSO isn't out right now for XBOX it will mostly be Mech Assault, I want to get some impressions first though ;)
I'll try and post some impressions about Mech Assault once I get it. (Maybe tomorrow). Btw, if you don't have an Xbox (unless you are getting one just for XBL), please don't vote no. :) I think it's fair to say if you don't have an Xbox, you most likely won't be getting XBL.
Not I said the Yoshi.
That's Unreal Championship. But yeah, I definitely am.
DOH!Quote:

Fixed. :cool:Quote:

Domo arigato gozaimasu!
I'm interested since I've never played online games before and my best friend lives 2 hours away. I want to do it, but not right away.
I just got home from the store with Mechassault.
Impressions later...
Can you play Halo online, and with the communicator?
If I have broadband by the time, yes.
I wasnt really interested in Mech Assualt until I thought about how much fun I had playing Alien Front Online. If it's anything like AFO I think it will definitely be a cool game to play online.
I voted yes with multiple games, got Ghost Recon and Mech Assault today, getting Unreal Friday. This weekend is going to be nothing but Live
Its out? huh, i really need to get with the times.
Green, you can only play Halo online through a Gamespy "hack" that tricks your XB into thinking it's on a system link. And that doesn't support the headset, unless something big has happened. The first time you'll be able to play Halo on XBL is with Halo 2.
Korly: YOU BASTARD! No Mech Assault here. I saw you playing that online and, well, YOU BASTARD! (Yes, I'm jealous). How is it? (You bastard...)
I'm suprised at the # of "no" votes. For those who have voted no thus far, is it a lack of broadband, a lack of your type of games for the service, or just no interest?
I might get it eventually. CvS2 is just too much to pass up online. First and foremost, though, I need an x-box.
I plan on getting it eventually, but there's nothing out right now that I really want to play. I want some fighters, but I would get it for Halo 2 if nothing else comes out before then.
No broadband + Not much interest in online play = Nope.
For me, it's a lack of an Xbox that's holding me down.Quote:

Unfortunately there aren't any games that really interest me right now. If THPS4 had been online I probably would've jumped in right from the start, but alas...

Fuck Neversoft.
Bump. Live's out people. Vote if you have an Xbox.
Yes, with Mech Assault.
I'll get Mech Assault today, and might even get the XBL kit today, but I won't be able to connect for a little while. :(
Meh. Saw it at a friend's last night.
I got to play Whacked! with some guy that sounded more redneck than anything I've ever heard.
While promises of hearing "Um gunna lait you up, pal" and "I done killed y'all" will make me laugh for days on end, there's nothing I want to play on it.
When PGR 2 comes out, I'll highly consider it.
Yup, got it a while back, got Mech Assault day before yesterday, & I'm getting Unreal championship as soon as it hits the shelves! :)
I must say, as a total Online play noob, this is the shit & I have loved every second so far.

What so good about Xbox live anyway?
Right now there are no games out that I would be interested playing on line anyway, plus I'm not big fan of multiplayer. DJ is more interested in it then I am though :)
It works well, is easy to use & hook up, very little lag, no 56kers & being able to talk to opponents & team mates all over the country. I can't tell you how much fun it is to play Team Destruction & be able to coordinate your team or ask for backup by talking to people.

Well, Since I dont have broad band access, it makes it even more useless to me at the moment :)
I go to pick up my kit in about 30 minutes. I will post my Gamertag when I get it because I do not know what I am going to be able to get
Awesome, you will get a friend invite tonight!
JM
I'll be on all weekend.
Isn't it convenient that by the time your one-year membership of Xbox Live ends, Halo 2 will be coming out?
As for me, there's not enough compelling reasons for me to spring for an Xbox, broadband, and the Live service, considering that I spent nearly $500 on PS2 stuff this month. I'm sure the games are fun, but it's just not time for me to pick it up now. I will say that Capcom vs. SNK 2: Broadband Online is VERY compelling, but not enough to go X.
Nonetheless, enjoy your online experiences, everyone!
Alright guys I just got back from buying the kit, I will try and set it up and here's hoping it goes smoothly. I will post my gamertag when/if I get it working
ok I got everything in order, I am Zombified on Live hope to see you guys (yep I put it in two threads)
You should have made one of the choices, yes was a beta tester.
Am I the only one getting it for solely Ghost Recon? I don't want to be all alone when playing. :(
Anyways, I need an adaptor or wait until I get a new tv for Christmas before I can actually go online, unless I run a cable through my house...which I won't,
A lot of people can't get on today (I can't), I called up tech support and they said their servers were overloaded. I think there is more to it than that, but let me know if you can get on today.
I got on and played a little Unreal Championship today. The setup is extremely easy. The only thing I had to do was plug the network cable in and enter my name, gamertag, etc. It automatically just detected my network connection.
While playing, the first thing I noticed was the lag. Some of the time it would seem alright, and other times it was almost unplayable. Not good. Another thing is that you could barely hear some people, while you could hear other people very clearly. Hopefully they will have this ironed out soon. I'm gonna go try some Mech Assault.
First off I think that UC is probably a little more bandwidth intensive than the other XBL titles currently out, and second I just don't think quite enough people have UC yet, as opposed to the 30,000 people that already have Moto GP. Because of this, finding a match with enough low-ping players is difficult right now, in a few weeks though I bet lag will be less of a problem ( maybe not so much with the 16 players matches, we'll see ). Liking it so far, but where the hell's the custom audio support?! Also, I can't play Moto GP until Monday since UPS f**king lost my retail disc. Why did MS use UPS to mail a CD anyway? I'm wondering if it isn't because the US Postal Service is in bed with AOL?Quote:

Right now, no, but these two aforementioned games will make me change my tune.Quote:

I have an Xbox and have broadband. I just don't play enough online games to warrant having two consoles online, and the Xbox will never have anything I want as much as RE Online on PS2.Quote:

I will, eventually. When does CvS2 come out?
