Wake me up when it's $69.99 less, retail price.
"Factory reconditioned" :o
I'd rather pay the $30 more for a new one.
By then they'll have PS3...and I'll have finished playing all the games I've already got. Put me down for one at that price, as well :).Quote:

I'll get one when they make a model that lasts more than a year without breaking.
Factory reconditioned ones can be had at EB/Gamestop for that price too.Quote:

I've had my SCPH-10000 since March 11th, 2000. It's still kicking muchas ass! My US one has hit the floor HARD from hip height no less than four times. Once the drawer got popped out to the point the back end of it was past the spindle. I opened that bad boy up, reefed up on the back of the drawer and slid it back into place. When I buttoned it back up PRESTO! Like new. PS2s are surprisingly durable given their absolute flyweight construction. At least around these parts.
I just did "fix" one today that had absurd copious dust covering the entire laser eyeball. I gave her one blast with the canned air and she was purrin like a kitten.
I'd rather get the "real" brand new too.

Well, shoot. Since I already own one, I didn't read it too carefully. :(Quote:

I'd be careful before ordering from Overstock.com. They definitely have some good prices, but they have a history of selling products they no longer have in stock, charging your credit card, and making you wait months to get your stuff. I've personally never ordered from them, but they talk about this company a lot at dvdtalk.com .
QUOTE::I'll get one when they make a model that lasts more than a year without breaking:: ....Ive had mine since launch and its still perfect. BTW it has received EXTENSIVE use.
I've had mine from Launch as well.. the only problem I can see with it is that when the disc tray open, it makes a grinding sound at the very end. I can fix it easily though by pushing the tray back up.
So, this place by my house sells Xboxs for $189.99 with two games. Beat that.
Exactly. Or go to a local record exchange type shop and get a used one for like $150 or $160.Quote:

When they ship a model with an integrated HDD and network adapter for $99 then maybe I'll be interested.
I can't believe all the games you guys are missing out on. I can understand waiting for the PS2 right when it came out, but it's 3 years and hundreds of games later.
Damn Right Andy :) Not having one now, is plain silly :)
There are MANY great games on it right now, so even most hardened fanboys can find something they like.
Gongos excluded ;)
You mean the model that I have?Quote:

I finally broke down and got the damn system when Toys R Us had that deal where you buy two PS2 games and got one free. Vice City, NFS: Hot Pursuit 2, Contra, Mark of Kri, THPS4, and Sly Cooper for $200 was too good to pass up. I got Ratchet & Clank for my birthday, and I have Virtua Fighter 4 and maybe Rygar in my sights.
Now the trick is figuring out how to mix all that in with my Animal Crossing, TimeSplitters 2, Advance Wars (another birthday gift), Ikaruga, and soon-to-be double Metroid action playtime. Video gaming in 2002 rules!!!
