Got my KOF2001 today from NCS. Cool thing is, I ordered it yesterday and it came today! Merry Christmas to me!
Got my 2K1 today as well (VGD is pretty close). A few things:
No arranged soundtrack (that I can see)
Puzzle mode isn't quite the Tetris clone I expected, launching a super attack agaisnt a enemy requires some skill. Thus far my puzzle bouts have all been draws. Another oddity, puzzle blocks are marked with X, +, -, and occaisionally flash for some reason. Definitely deeper than 2K's puzzles.
Did 2K1 have animation cut? I swear the characters aren't quite as smooth as 2K.

Ungh, the music was my third biggest complaint behind the broken gameplay and awful backgrounds for the MVS version.Quote:

All the other reports I've read have all said, "no OST, and the AST is the only option".
You SURE what you're listening to isn't the arranged version?
If it's arranged then it's very clunky sounding. I've never played the Neo version of 2001 but the music has the same general sound as previous Neo KOFs I've played. *-neoQuote:

I've been playing this for a bit now... I'm not liking it much. I don't like the striker system and how it affects your super meter. Well hell I never liked strikers in the first place but this is worse. And what the hell is up with some of the DM motions? Iori has only two DM's in this one and one of them is QCFx4? Who in the hell thought that was a good idea? K9999 doesn't have crap for moves which is annoying... Kula seems to have improved a bit... I like using her... but in general this game isn't very good. The puzzle mode is dull as hell... I played through it last night and didn't lose a single match... but the later matches started to last forever. And as Neo mentioned... I'm pretty sure the music is the original and not arranged... it's pretty crappy. All in all I really wish that we could get 2002 for DC... that'd be a much better send of for the DC. It's back to Dream Match and 2000 for me.
I am afraid KoF 2001 is an example of life after SNK. :(
Yep. That's about the size of it from other reports. Like MOTW AST, they just added a few extra tones in every now and then.Quote:

KOF 2001 isn't bad... but it is disappointing somewhat. Here's my review of it.
