I FINALLY played online with a fellow TNLer today (Korly) and it is genuinely weird being able to connect a voice to a TNL poster.
Who have you guys seen online?

Honestly, I have been having more fun with MA than UC by far. The players seem to have more fun & the chat while playing is a lot goofier & amusing. I still haven't played UC too much though, so maybe when I start hooking up with you guys it will be more fun.

I just couldn't get together with Apokryphos last night. I sent him a few invites and he sent me a few but everytime he sent me one I was in the middle of a game I was hosting. I will catch up to more of you guys soon.
I just played a few games tonight with a friend on the other side of town. Pure bliss. It's really great when you go 22-1 in a game and everybody's yelling, "Where's that fuckin' Grakswee?!?" :D
Alright, I just got back from EB and got Mech Assault. I don't have Live, and won't have it til around X-Mas. But I'm most definetly going to be Chucker. I know ShinMyk's gametag is Shin Myk. He played against Korly too.
Wow! JM(Latro on XBOX live) and I kicked some MAJOR ass last night. We were unstoppable. I hope to catch you on again tonight being that it's Friday and I don't have to get up for work tomorrow.
I'm going to take this opportunity to complain. :p That gun that can knock over an Uziel is just unbelievably overpowered. It's one thing to knock it down, but in an 8 player destruction, if I get knocked down, I'm lucky to ever get back up (even at full health). Sucks. :(
To me that is the beauty of this game. If you take a big mech like the Atlas you know going in that it's really slow and you're going to have to compensate for its lack of speed. The Uziel on the other hand has the opposite problem with it being really quick but can get pummeled by a big powerful mech. I feel your pain though, when someone starts running circles around me it can get really tough to catch them with a couple of shots. As far as the gun being overpowered, it has to be leveled up at least 1 notch before it can start knocking mechs over.Quote:

Oh, I have no doubt that the gun needs to be powerful, it taking off 1/3-1/2 of the energy isn't what I'm upset about. I'm upset that it takes so unbelievably long to get up that I end up getting killed by 2-3 mechs every time I'm knocked over. I'd rather it just stun your weapons for a few seconds or something instead of it being an instant kill. :(
I hear ya man. I played in destruction against Nigel last nigh, & I was hanging out with my ass in the air quite a bit. Funny the pose you end up in when you get knocked over. Hell, I was in a MadCat, which is a good deal heavier than a uziel.
Man, we need to try and organize a TNL Mech assault night. Ya know, everyone make a real effort to show up for a while. I know that a team of Nigel, Mode 7 & I would be unstoppable, PERIOD. It is really nice to play with teammates that actually work together & communicate rather than treat it like another deathmatch. TNLers, for the most part seem to be of a higher caliber than anyone else I've played with. Sound like I need to play with Schlep too! :)

Knock-overs are a pain when you're on the receiving end, but man are they ever sweet when you're the one dishing them out. It's possible to start tipping mechs with level 3 PPCs, but generally it's those gauss cannons -- especially the duals -- that do the damage.
And I'd be down for a designated MechAssault-ing night as well.
Count me the hell in on a TNL night of ass kicking! Just name the time and day and I'll be there. Schlep is right that it does take too long for a downed mech to get back on its feet but on the same token Mode 7 is right about it being ALOT of fun when you drop someone and they're laying there with their ass in the air. I just want to go on record and say the I didn't want to have to do that to you JM in the rare un-team destruction match we had but you shot me first. hahhahaaha I was avoiding that until you drew first blood. hahahahhahhha
Mode7, I'm sending you my doctor's bill for the beating you gave me last night. It took 300 stitches to reattach what was left of my ass after being fried 15 times by those damned PPCs.
Here here, that last game I played against Mode was truly brutal! I need to setup 8 player matches so Mode can be on my team. Nigel, Sangman & I usually make a good team, but that Ragnarok player tipped the scales. It sucks when some one knows what they are doing with one of those. Goddamn lava gun.

Heh. I figured I needed to bust out the Mad Cat after having my Catapult's metal-plated ass kicked the match before. That was a crazy match, though -- plenty of deaths on each side and nobody really dominating.

Hell yeah! It was great to finally hook up with a group of TNLers. It was too bad that Wolffen was having lag problems. At least it wasn't unplayable, he was just hopping around. Those last couple of games with Mode7 were great! Hey JM, it's about time we had a loss as a team. I guess we were due. That guy was nasty as hell with that Ragnarok,maybe the best use of that mech that I've seen. I think it was a little closer then 10, I think we were close but every time we got near them they would pull away. I think you might be confusing it with that match we had when you took the Atlas by accident.
I'm hoping my lag problems will be minimized now. I upgraded the firmware on my router last night, changed the MTU size, turned on WEP encryption to make sure no one in the neighborhood was mooching off my bandwidth, and a few other things. My numbers on the connectivity test were better (but not great...UL was in the 50~60 range). If that doesn't work, I guess I'll resort to plugging the XB straight into my modem to see if that works.

Man XBL SUCKED for me last night! It took forever to connect, I got booted out of a game I was hosting & then I totally lost my connection. It wasn't my modem either, when I checked it out in the XBL setup in my Dashboard, everything was cool, but it said it couldn't find XBL. Sucked.
Not XBL related, but going with my theme of bad luck:
I decided to just do some single player stuff for a while. I got up to the "Size Matters" mission, got through the part where I have to get to the mech in the elemental, it took me like 3 fucking tries! Then once I was playing as the atlas, it froze about 3 minutes into the mission! Arrgh! I just turned the game off, I hope I don't have to do the elemental part of that one again!
the only thing that made me happy with my Xbox last night the Band of Brothers Disc 1 DVD I put in after turning Mech Assault off in disgust.
I hope XBL works tonight.

Nigel, I love your new sig! LOL! Thanks for the great game Friday night with Sangman and Mcfarmer and Latro. I had a blast (no pun intended). That elemental game was awesome.
Found a new tactic to use: get a mech with the AMS/chaff defense system. Run right up next to an enemy player, deploy your chaff, and it should stick to the leg of the enemy. Then, when anyone near by fires missles, they home on that player. :) Also useful as a followup to DFA (since DFA rarely kills in this game) while you're on their head anyway. :evil:
Did I seem less laggy to you two, btw? Things seemed a hell of a lot better to me.

I have out of town company coming in & my wife is freaking out about getting everything looking great before Friday. Then, after Friday, my friend Phil will be over almost every night, & he isn't much of a gamer, so I probably won't be playing untill around Xmas. Just look for me when you get a chance, MA is the only XBL game I have, so if you see that I am on, that's where I'll be. Nigel & Mode are on pretty regularly, so you shouldn't have too much trouble finding someone.

Nigel, JM, that was a great game last night. If for no other reason than I kicked some ass finally. :) It's nice to be able to pick up some salvage now that my connection is a bit less laggy. I think next time I'll be busting out the Kit Fox and be invisible death. :evil:
Hell yeah, It was one of my worst performances last night so it was good that you guys picked up the slack. Right after you left Mode 7 showed up for a few rounds. I think they even played a few more after I left. I like the fact that more TNLers are showing up even if it is just a couple more. You should have been around for my last few matches. The banter between JM and xCxBx was fucking funny as hell. xCxBx started to loose his marbles and I think JM was getting a kick out of it.
Yeah, that insane giggle he had going for 95% of the match was wearing me thin.
My performance was not up to par last night either, We still won most of our matches, but not by the margin I'm used to. Hell, Mode & I almost lost a 3 on 2 match (us being on the 3 man team) after you left. It was disturbing.

I think we need to do a team destruction match with 7 elementals and a Rag or Atlas. That would be a fun bloodbath. :evil:

Yeah, as long as it was in River City. We could all dart around the buildings for cover, the rag would have to level the whole city to get to us. Sounds fun.

Hey, when's the next time a bunch of you are going to be on? I'd like to play some tonight...ever since the stat-clear, it seems like every other game is with some ass host who closes the game if he's losing....I'd like to play with a bunch of guys who just want to have some fun. btw- no d/l content yet...probably on the 15th then. Anyway, I'll available all day pretty much, just working on some pre-class homework, so, post in here if you're interested.
ps: Does anyone ever 1v1 in this game? I know it's a little unsuitable for the setup, but, I was playing a destruction where everyone dropped except some Atlas and I (Catapult)...it was surprisingly fun, how we'd have to try and coerce the player into situations more advantageous to our particular mech. Since the level was Frosty, I had the terrain advantage with Jump Jets, but his chaff shut down my missiles pretty well, and the Atlas doesn't drop missile upgrades either. One the other hand, my target jamming defeats his missiles and makes lasers tricky, and the catapult doesn't drop ballistics for his auto-cannon (so, no knockdown for him). All in all, it was surprisingly strategic, so I wondered if anyone out there has tried that. Of course, I won, but it was only like 5 - 3, so, not a blowout by any means.
I'll be on tonight. I'm finaly wining every once and a while so it's getting more fun (except for those lamers who dissconnect when they're losing).

Anyone hear anything new about the next DL content? Supposedly, it was going to be this month.
-2 mechs (Hellbringer and Loki)
-Capture the Flag and some other play modes
-2 CTF only maps
-Lobby enhancements
Anyway, I've sorta shelved this game for a while, but those CTF and new mechs would definitely get me back into it.
Okay, new downloads are available NOW.
Pretty much everything listed in my previous post is included (except "other play modes").
The lobby enhancements are as follows:
-host can kick people from the lobby, but not from the game.
-It shows who is talking on screen in the lobby and in the game.
-After a game ends, you have the option to stay with the host and just join the next game they make without going back out to the lobby and waiting for an invite or any of that nonsense.
New mechs don't look like anything amazing, but I haven't played them yet. The Hellbringer does get a new weapon, the Flamer, which does damage and raises the targets heat. The Loki seems more bland (think Summoner), but it is funny watching it come out of Null Sig when it's the size of a Thor.
Capture the Flag is great fun, and people seem eager to communicate and work as a team. Team's that don't seriously get trounced so far. Too bad you can't play it on all the maps, just the two new ones.
I haven't had any drops when starting games since the update, but that may just be luck and not some enhancement. Anyway, we should set up some TNL team play sometime.

I DLed the maps and mechs the other day and played a while. It was fun and lag-free. I'd forgotten how much I enjoyed the game.

I went back to MA finally when the CTF was released. I really didn't care for it so I got rid of my copy of MA.

I was number one in Giant Killers for a month, I was so burned out I stopped playing for months.
