Down with commercialism!

I try my best, but its been naggin on me for quite some time that I need to address this issue. Indeed, its my duty!

It's a fact that commercials have gotten out of hand. When you're watching a show the commercials are instantly louder than what you were watching.

Commercials are using music that I listen to! I don't how I can put this but,....the Spceials were used for a diaper and a credit card commercial! Bastards! (and f' u Specials!)

On the phone, telemarkets, shoot yourselves. If I get another morning wake up call on saturday morning with some friggin jerk talking 90 mph about who-knows-what I'm gonna go ballistic.

I can not damn all commercials though. I do like the snickers commercial with the dude getting the morning call, flying over to the telemarketers cubical, and smashing the friggin phone! Hell......yes.

So advertisers, do what the late great Bill Hicks once said, "Any advertisers in the house, yeah?....Kill yourselves, no really, do it now; I'm not kidding."

Listen to indie or unknown music that has no hope of catching on in the mainstream.

Buy a separate phone line and hook all of your phones up to that one and make the number unlisted. Give this new phone number out only to friends and relatives. Keep the old number that gets all the telemarketers. Whenever you need to fill out a form or give a third party that you don't explicitly trust any information at all, give them the old line.

You can also try making up fake information to give to specific people or companies. That way, if someone calls for a "Clark Kent", for example, you'll know that Company X (the only company you gave that info to) sold your information.

i think commercials are great. they're one of the better forms of entertainment on television. sure, a lot of commercials suck, but the really clever ones are just fun to watch.

Ahhh, them mute button. The best button on the controller other than the power. I weild the mute button a lot, but when you can find the bloody controller, you're practically up a creak.

I wasn't aware that the Specials were mainstream. That's about all I do listen to is underground, with a few exceptions.

Interesting. The evil souless megaconglomerate's marketing firm didn't pick an over-played worn out song for their commercials? Wow.

Umm... Are you watching the same commercials as me? Tons of commercials now-a-days use indie or lesser-known music. I've heard Beta Band, Radiohead, Modest Mouse, The Specials, The Clash, The Buzzcocks, Iggy Pop, and others I'm forgetting. Hell, Lust For Life (a song about kicking a heroin habit) is used in a cruise line commercial. I don't get the point in complaining about it, though. What does it hurt, what's the problem? If I was in their position, I'd sell my music too. No work is required by them, yet they get paid handsomely. Perhaps you should let go of the illusion of "artistic integrity". It's bullshit.

Yes. I don't want to phone to ring when I know the person at the other end. When someone is calling with no purpose other than to waste my time, it is ridiculous.
