I'm on the 1st planet. Control is ho-hum, looks pretty good however.
Is there a way to turn around quickly or adjust the rate of turn?

Since Steel Battalion doesn't come in until tomorrow, I picked up Prime today to get my animation cell with it. :)
I'm amazed at how well they pulled it off. Gorgeous game. The controls took me some getting used to. Very un-FPS-like. But after a little while I'm getting around with no problem. The ability to scan so many things is really cool. And I love the little touches, like the moisture buildup on Samus' helmet when you come in from space.
No sleep for me tonight!
I'm a couple hours in. It seems good but it's not giving me the same addiction-level of the previous Metroids so far. I'm not pleased the game crashed on me once either.
It feels a lot like Doom-engine era FPS's in its controls. I have no problem with the controls but fixed-view first-person games like this give me motion sickness nowadays.
Alright, it's looking like my list of all-time favorite "perfect" games is about to add Prime on that list. Funnily enough, that makes three out of the four Nintendo (or N-based) games (SnP, ZOoT, and Ikaruga are the others).:wtf:Quote:

Mech: Me too. "About to" - you mean you're getting near the end?
On the topic of the game crashing: supposedly there are a number of copies that freeze when Samus enters an elevator in Chozo Ruins. Some copies freeze only the first time, some several....mine was OK though. I think that's the only trouble spot, though.
Like DacaZ stated, it's the attention to detail that makes Prime so memorable. When I'm not playing, it's the small touches I remember most.
Neo, is your motion sickness bad? 98% of first-person games give me motion sickness, but not Prime (or Quake III, go figure). I wonder why...I read somewhere how Retro took special care to avoid people getting motion sickness, but damned if I know what they did. I'd sure like to know. The draw distance, maybe? *shrug*
I doubt it, I'm at 28% right now. But honestly, unless the game screws up something massively I don't see how it will avoid getting on my list.Quote:

Especially after the rock boss. That was one of the sweetest boss battles in existance, bar none. Honestly, I'm not sure how they'll top that one, but they keep getting better and better...
Anyone notice the pixelation when you use the scan visor?
One thing I love about this game is how much more the ball is used. The thing is blast to mess around with.
+ Tallon Overworld music
+ Frigate Underwater music
+ Chozo drawing in the manual
+ Everything about the game
Retro pulled off a miracle.
Super Metroid Ball bonus game anyone?
Bio, my motion sickness is annoying but I'm not going to puke or anything. I would definitely play for longer periods of time if it wasn't there. It's a shame because I'm really getting into the game now. The weird thing is that FPS's are one of my most played genres. I play mouse/keyboard ones for hours on end with zero motion sickness.
There is loading in this game. Well hidden, mind you, but it's there.
I've gotten a couple hours in, and it's good and bad in parts. Certainly a rental at the very least.
