Metroid Prime

Got it today and played through the spaceship scenario and a bit on the planet surface. It'd be nice to have the C-stick be look but so far no big deal. Had a little trouble with the strafing and shooting the parasite queen, but probably just needed to get used to the controls some more.

What's up with the graphics though, they are seriously insane. Between this, Starfox, and Rogue Leader, the Cube has got some of the most mindblowing visuals this generation. The only thing is no widescreen option.

I only played a little on Tallon before turning it off, it seemed pretty huge though. I liked the little touches, like the condensation on the visor and stuff when you surface from the water and stuff. Unfortunately, I will probably end up shelving this game until Christmas break since I've got too much other stuff to play, including Fusion.

Why would I believe you in the first place? I've already proved you wrong. I'd show you myself, but I don't feel like recording videos at the moment.

Oh, and for those who still feel like complaining about the C-Stick (funny, no one complained about turning in ZOoT), you'd be amazed how handy it is once you get further in. Running through rooms with a weapon best suited for certain kinds of enemies with different ones required for opening doors (and different kinds of doors in a row), you'd absolutely hate it if you had to do that with the menu.

If it wasn't for auto-targeting there's no way you'd be able to hit half the enemies and most of the boss battles would be impossible. Besides, the dual-stick method isn't very accurate (hence why every single console FPS has auto-targeting).

I am also very impressed with the jumping thus far, it is far and away the best jumping ever even tried in an FPS. My only complaint was under-water jumping (which got recently rectified). However, I would like to warn everyone that has not gotten to the crashed ship yet: If you reach that area and do not have the Gravity Suit, do not go in! I'm just warning you... unless you enjoy a very long climb upwards in a slow-paced underwater annoying platform area, where any screw-up sends you back to the bottom to start over.

Now at 45%. It's odd, it seems like this is the first time that you actually need all the weapons to beat the game (although I haven't played Metroid II, so I'm kind of hazy there). Not a bad thing, but different.

I had the game freeze up on me this morning on that damn elevator, so now I'm nervous every time I get on one.

Something I forgot to mention, title screen reminds me of Fight Club's (the movie, that is) credits.
Yamcha, there is an option to stretch the screen out, that's what I did and it looks and plays fine on a widescreen tv.
Shoggoths (Lovecraft!) are scary...
Space Pirates even more so.

Alright, I just got finished being tense as hell, what with these weapon-specific Pirates whooping my ass while reading up about the Metroid Prime. I've got a felling it's going to be the last boss, and it sounds scary as hell. Judging from the description I can already imagine how the battle is going to flow, and it frightens me.

It's also creepy reading about them keeping track of you and following all your movements while studying all of your own weaponary to be used against you. And the whole development and containment of Metroids is slick...

The Elite Pirates scare me, they really do. It probably had quite a bit to do with my low health, but walking into a room and seeing all sorts of stasis pods filled with the buggers and no clue which might attack had me nervous as hell. Unfortunately, my search for a save room in the mines led me to survive all sorts of Pirate onslaught only to be killed by a stupid worthless bastard guard robot autogun! I hate those things.

Rock boss beat me. Metroid Prime is very very awesome.
Something else about using the C-stick to aim: I've played Turok, and for the life of me I couldn't aim well. I have average sized hands, and that nob is just too small for my thumb to rest on to aim correctly.

Finally looked through the manual: Prime supports 16:9 and progressive scan! I'm buying GC component cables tomorrow. Oh sweet Jesus this is gonna look cool. [/graphicswhore]

There is no 16:9 setting you go into, you just stretch the screen in the display option (unless your tv automatically goes into 16:9 mode..my tv does it when I play Tony Hawk 4 for Xbox in 720p). Works fine.
