Well I rented this game this weekend adn I have decided to cave in and buy it. I made it to the giant plant boss only about 1hr to 2hrs in the game, but had to return it. Amzing game. Definately a must have.
Prime has finally fallen to the arm cannon of the little green dino: 75% in 14:52.
Finished Metroid Prime.

---gained all Energy Tanks
---missing some missiles, 2 power bomb stocks, scans on Flaagrah & Thardus, and a research log or two.
---haven't tried Hard Mode yet...
Post-Game Impressions.
-Gotta remember to take it slow. I died more on the plant boss (Flaagrah) than any other boss, because of sheer panic. I offed Ridley on my first try, probably because of the zen trance I found myself in. Phazon Mines are a nightmare if you race through it.
But run like holy hell on the final stage--remember to jump out of the way too.
-Screw you, Omega Pirate. And your piss-drinking buddies. Fuckin' Power Troopers. Love the boss theme, though. Got it on Mp3. Now to find the one for the rock boss...
Hell, all the main & sub boss battles are exceptionally good; I kinda feel guilty by running through a room full of ghosts and not wasting them.
-Am I the only one who takes a great deal of pleasure from sniping Space Pirates while completely out of sight? There are some rooms, like the GIANT six-story one in the 3rd basement level of the Phazon Mines where those bastards have NO CLUE where you are, and it's beautiful to see them scramble & flee for cover. Bitches.
-My only longstanding complaint would be the way the lock-on randomly switches up when two enemies line up in the same reticule. Anyone else have this problem? Other than that, I'd consider control & camera issues moot, as they can be negotiated around. Adjust.
-Having only experienced a few FPS games, and was a horrible skeptic on announcement of Metroid Prime's initial stats, I can say this is the first game that completely 720'd my expectations. 24 hours well spent. Where's Retro Studios, so I can mail them a cake?

Finally finished tonight:
Took it slow (over 29 hours) and still only got 88%. Got all Energy Tanks and 200 missles, but missed about 10 Creature Scans. Just out of curiosity, is there a consensus hardest boss in this game? For me it was definitely Thardus.
My breakdown (I think I remembered them all correctly)
Flaahgra - 3rd try
Thardus - 9th try (and just barely)
Omega Pirate - 4th try
Ridley - 3rd try
Prime - 6th try
For some reason I could never really figure Thardus out. I had that moment where everything comes together and you get in that "zone" with every boss but him. I am not looking forward to facing that bastard in hard mode.
In Hard Mode, I absolutely could not beat Thardus until I found a small ledge on the edge of the arena where I could stand above the range of the ice attack. His rolling attack would rarely connect there, and I could easily shoot down his boulders for health. The fight is cake that way.Quote:

hey guys, i'm having some trouble getting back into the sun chamber to get the artifact. in the one entrance you need to find the 4 symbols so you can spider back up the tower, but i can only find 2. in the other entrance is blocked by supervines. any tips? i've spent a lot time on this one artifact and i'm ready to move on.
On the bottom of the chamber there's an symbol underneath the hiding grass on a platform in the water. There's another symbol along the outside wall next to a pathway. One is on the tree above a pathway leading away from the tree (if you're going up). And I think the fourth is also on the tree lower down.
