Awesome thanks! I've been leaning towards Nintendo Power since they've always made some pretty sweet guides (their Super Metroid guide kicked ass) but I was open to other options. Now... to see if I can still pick one up somewhere...Quote:

Bumping this thread, hopefully I can get this question answered. Anyone buy the guide for MP? I wanna get one but I'm not sure which one to get.... the Prima one, Bradygames, or the official Nintendo Power one... nice layout/artwork is a definite plus... thanks.
Don't listen to anyone else. Get the Versus Books version. As soon as you see it, you'll know what I mean.
I take it all back!Quote:

Played alot more today and totally got used to the controls. I now understand why this control scheme was chosen.
And apparantly no more sickness (I had smoked prior to my first play so I'm thinking that had something to do with it).
With that being said, I'm really liking this game. :D
I just beat the game and...SPOILERS AHEAD!!!

Man, the ending sucked, and the last boss was hella easy, but goddamn what an amazing game. I think I'm gonna start over right now and play on hard. Only annoying thing about this game is that there are certain things to scan that if you miss them you can never get them again. I'm gonna get 100% this time around, though. Oh, yeah, and I was dissapointed there was no escape sequence at the end, but since there was one in the beginning, it's not a big deal.
I just like to add (again):
I've owned this game since release...and have yet to play it more than two or so hours.
And with that...
*flys out*
There's a versus books version of the guide? I haven't seen it at all...
Omnigear, all I have to say is ... enjoy! :D
Just to let you guys know... there's a game-rip soundtrack floating around the 'net. I've got it (just point me to a real OST and I'll buy it. No ultrap1r4t3h4><0r is me) and it's mighty fine. Anyone wants a song, just IM me.
yes it doesnt seem to bad either and it has a full guide for the original Metroid in it which is pretty damn coolQuote:

I've completed the game now and overall I liked the game but the utterly shit bosses (how anyone can claim the contrary is beyond me) and the ending was a fucking insult. Ridley and Omega Pirate were great boss fights though. Ironic that the platforming elements in Metroid Prime were better than Mario Sunshine as a whole, heh. The artifact retrievals surprised me by being highly enjoyable to collect when I usually hate such gameplay. I will buy a copy for my collection (I like to own a copy of every game that I bother to play through to completion) but I doubt I will return to it.
Good game, way overrated though. The last 25% of the game (final 3 bosses, artifacts, going back to collect items etc) was truly brilliant. 8/10.
Just read an ending FAQ (like hell am I scanning everything to get 100%), sounds like Phazon Ridley will be in Metroid Prime 2 ;P
Yeah, the bosses looked awesome but the fights were dissapointing. The exploration was the best part of this game though.
I got this game the day it came out, played for about 7 hours and then put it down until about 5 days ago. I never thought I would play it again, but then forced myself to, and was totally addicted until I beat it. Mere words can't describe how incredible this game is.
The Chozo Ghost fight...the face that flashes on the screen...one of the freakiest things I've seen in all my years of gaming.
Amazing.
Those ghosts scare the crap out of me. Seriously. They're terrifying. The music, the whole room turning dark, and the hissing... I run like hell (if I can).
One of the things I like best about Prime is how it smoothly shifts gears from the terrifying to the spooky to the awe-inspiring to the thought-provoking to the hopeful to the victorious, without seeming contrived or forced.
All without a single word of dialogue.
My favorite part of the game (besides the world design) is the "!!!!!!!!!!!" that goes off in your head whenever you get a new power-up: "Cool, NOW I can finally find out what's behind that cordite wall!"
Playing with the hints off makes this even stronger.
Agreed. It's disheartening that Retro even included that hint feature. Are people getting dumber, lazier, or what? This is Metroid. If you're stuck, you explore, and if your short-term memory is crap like mine, you'll write things down. Is that too much to ask?Quote:

People don't like hard games nowadays. I think.
Either way, it's only an option. You could always turn it off. Now if you had to use it, that'd be a different story.
I know how lame bumping old threads is but I just figured that I'd ask this in the official thread.
What resolution is Prime running at? I can't shake this feeling that your viewing area is too small and too cramped.
The standard 640 x 480 like about every game for the current consoles. The resolution has nothing to do with the viewing area though.
i think if you get 100% you get a different ending... i'm curious as to what that is.
I'd like to add that I've yet to play more than 2 hours into this game.
*runs out*
Finished it today, great game, much better then I could ever dream of. That said, I would prefer that the next one turned out to be in highres 2d, never gonna happen..
I didn't feel that the hints were telling me anything I didn't already know, and at any rate, Prime is a hell of a lot harder and more complex than Wind Waker.
Finished at long last this weekend. 92% (I'll be damned if I can find those last few missile expansions), 27 hours on the clock (although it's probably closer to forty).
The last three boss battles, one after the other, were incredible and very enjoyable, with a perfect difficulty level - the perfect way to end it.
I'm happy to have finished it, but sad that it's over. I'll give Hard Mode a try in a couple of months.
