A nice anti-trust fine in Europe.
Still opinion, though I agree that industry insides did have issues. Of course I didn't like the Dual Shock.
Hmmm... if these dev. kits are as powerful as the full blown ones then I'll give you that one.
As I said, it's my opinion based on the type of games that I like. The games on XBox have more of a draw to me than those on PS2. It's just an individual opinion.
The first sentence is not opinion specifically in reference to the amount of quality games, as we shall see if you do decide to post the list.
Yep. I agree that it would be based on opinion as well, though I've even heard EA fans express their disappointment at live but still buy it and ignore NBA 2K2 just because it's EA.
It could potentially limit the type of games that come to a system. For instance if Capcom didn't have the clout that it did, we probably wouldn't have seen any 2D games on PSX going by what was mentioned earlier.
Once again. We are talking about the goal being all three consoles in competitive positions, not one console ruling the market. I want it to get to the point where GC, XBox, and PS2 are neck and neck. Every one of these consoles have taken advantage of things when they've been number 1. The one company that I would not have minded ruling the console industry has dropped out so Sony, MS, and Nintendo look the same to me. Nintendo still seems to care a little about gaming, but for the most part I think all three care about their bank accounts more and would do whatever they could to fatten their pockets (though I think Nintendo's starting to become complacent).
Please re-read what I wrote, specifically the second half. I specifically qualified my comments...
Then admit it's a flaw for all systems.
Are they really? If Microsoft is loosing about $100 on the XBox, I think people are paying for much less, and it helps with keep up with competition for those that want a console to play DVD's like the PS2 does.
How so? And you still haven't sayed why it's bad even though it helps keep the problems I mentioned from happening. How is it so bad and wrong?
But they are doing that so that they go online through the XBox Live service. Consoles are closed systems. This would be a big deal if it was on PC but it's not. Microsoft is developing an online console service and wants those games to be part of it. If they don't though they have the right not to allow them to be online as it would be competition with their own service.
If weight is the reason they want to miss out on some great games (assuming the games interest them) then looks like they miss out.
Never said that. Microsoft is behind their original plans as far as sales, but they are still doing OK for the most part when you see Nintendo is in the same boat or worse sales wise. Losses will be noticed but won't play a key factor till next gen. If XBox Live takes off though, Microsoft will start recovering mony very quickly.
IMO it's partially because they mispent their money, but there are many factors that have come into the situation with XBox's sales. But Microsoft is only trying to build a name, not win. As long as they are able to do that this generation, they will be satisfied.
I think what set things off was that you posted general XBox information instead of things specific to the topic. People missunderstood your purpose in this because we all know and have accepted the losses of money for XBox and everything. We were just looking at the XBox Live sales for what they were and they surpassed Microsoft's Expectations so to Microsoft that's a good thing. When it comes to console flaws, trust me, there are people here knowledgable about the flaws of every console this generation. (You've missed some interesting debates that were on the older versions of this board.) So we just usually take that as a given and go on.
Don't let things get you all worked up though. We're all just gamers that enjoy talking about an analysing our hobby. So don't let any of the comments made by me get to you. I definitely have no intentions to insult or bash in my posts. Just the usual point counterpoint deal. If it comes out that way I apologize.
Yeah, you're right. It did evolve. Just drifted a good bit off topic, that's all.
Oh yeah. If what you said about OSX finally being ported to general PC's rather than proprietory Macs, it's about time. That hardware was Apples biggest hinderance competing against windows. Now they might actually get some real market share since people won't have to pay premiums for hardware just to get their OS.
Some important advice if you're really concerned about your personal information. You may be worried about Microsoft, but you have to worry about every site you register to. Some sites don't even have 128 bit encryption. Tons of sites ask for and collect your information. Some ask and some don't. For many of those we don't have a clue how secure their servers are. So don't put all the blame on Microsoft there.
Next, if you don't update and download patches for Linux or Mac OS and if you don't have anti-virus software, then you might as well be using windows. Linux and Mac OS have virus's and security holes too. There's no prefect OS, but there are options just like with the console industry. If Microsoft products are a bother you don't have to use them.
