F-Zero: Maximum Droolage
Release date?
It does look awesome. I don't normally highly anticipate racing games but F-Zero is the exception.
The movie froze up on me halfway through but god damn did that thing look great!
Now that's sensation of speed!
*watches movie*
That's going to sell systems.
no date yet. i say spring to summer 2003 though.Quote:

Gah. They should have had that ready for this Christmas.
I can't wait for this game to hit, F-Zero X SO owned me. Plus this should have even crazier track design with all the powerful hardware, I drool at that screen where the Blue Falcon is coming down from a huge fall.
I said this in the other F-Zero thread- if Sega can make F-Zero look this awesome then just imagine what Namco is cooking up for Star Fox :)
This game looks so fucking good it's mind boggling. If Sega can start putting out this caliber of stuff as a whole, they'd be kicking so much ass.
O.M.F.G.
That looks like fun
It's F-Zero.
Of course it'll kick ass. It will be the greatest racing game of all time. By far.
It's already sold me on a Cube.
I just got done playing F-Zero X for an hour, I can't wait for this game to hit.
It will probably have 5 tracks at most, and we'll finish the single-player mode in 20 minutes.
Sorry, I've been feeling bitter towards most Japanese developers these last few months...
...In which we move on to multiplayer and forget how shitty the AI was. And we might as well consider the next five months of our lives booked. :pQuote:

Maybe for those of you who have gamer friends. I, however, have to hide my true nature from just about everyone I know. Unless this new F-zero has online support. Does it?Quote:

I doubt it.
Ah, well, there's the problem.Quote:

Actually, I think it will. Nothing official yet, of course, but I see it happening.Quote:

There was something about the arcade game having network support. I imagine the home version would aswell. Doesnt seem like its too far of a stretch.
The video is fanfreakingtabulous. Just so beautiful. It really looks like it retains the gameplay and feel while offering something new. I cant wait.
Z-roe
just like every other F-Zero game. although im not expecting the game to have as many levels as previous games in the series, 5 levels? you're retarded.Quote:

well, the game is network compatible, and will have network play in arcades. so i think there's a good chance that the game will be online.Quote:

I dont think the graphics look THAT great but goddamn does it move smooth and fast. HOLY SHIT! Qauntum Reewwhhaaaa?
OMG I LOVE Remixed tunes from the old games. I think F-Zero SNES had some of the best music in a racing game EVER. Mute City and Big Blue. Please give me yet another remix of em!
I have never liked the F-Zero series (though I have not played the N64 game which I have heard good things about)... but I must admit that this game may be my most anticipated Gamecube title. It's looking really good and really fun. :)
I loved the music in the SNES games since it added a shit-load of personality to the game. The music fit the tracks perfectly, and you could tell what track you were on, or what set of tracks (Big Blue I, II, etc.) just by the music.
I still love the SNES F-Zero to this day, and its one of my favorite racers of all time so i eagerly anticipate this game
looks soooo good
Wasn't there a thread about the new F-Zero about a month or so ago? Anyway, it looks like an awesome game and I want to find out a real release date.

Yeah, that's why Daytona USA sucked.Quote:

Namco doesn't have that experience in the rail shooter feild. Not that I think their ill equipped, but it's not luck that had F-Zero shape up like this. I think F-Zero was almost a sure thing.
Please note: That was completely sarcastic. Daytona is no doubt the peak of the genre.Quote:

I'd rather have 5 perfect tracks than 20 shit ones.
Personally I hope the arcade version will have ~5 tracks with the home version having 3 versions of each track flavour with sections linking up ridge city style (if that makes sense).
Blah. Daytona USA sucks, and Daytona for the Dreamcast was a fucking embarrassment. I cant believe Sega actually allowed that piece of shit to be shrinkwrapped and sold. Even if you like Daytona, you have to admit that that game was an abomination.Quote:

Daytona USA and the Dreamcast version were excellent IMO although I like the sequel a lot more.
If I had an N64 I certainly would. Maybe one day...Quote:

As for all this Daytona bashing... *gasp*.... Daytona is the game that got me back interested in racing games. I had grown board with them.. but then when I got Saturn it came with Daytona (in the 3 pack)... I was not even expecting to like it or anything.. but holy crap. I quickly became addicted and now racing games are one of my favourite genres. I recently played it again - it had been a long time - and the magic is still there. It's a great great great game in my opinion and I am forever thankful I got it for free so that I gave it a chance. :)
All this reminds me, I need to buy the Dreamcast version one of these days...
I think that's why I like Sega Rally 1 more than Sega Rally 2. I would not say that SR2 is "shit", but it's kinda lacklustre and not perfect like the first game.Quote:

That's one of the things I love about old games. Because there were more limitations and the games were shorter sometimes they were more finely tuned and perfect. I think Sega Rally and NiGHTS into Dreams are good examples of this. They're both short games.. but they have near infinate replay value because they are perfect and always fun to play. They never get old...
I can't comment on the Daytona comparision yet becuase I don't have the DC one yet.
I was exaggerating to make a point. I'm just tired of paying 50$ for ultra-short games, and judging by their history, Sega is more likely to produce a short game than Nintendo is, had they decided to develop the new F-zero themselves.Quote:

Yeah, and I'd rather have 20 perfect tracks than 5 perfect ones. A game can have lots of replay value AND decent lenght. Or, I would also be content to pay 20$ for 5 perfect tracks. But that's not going to happen.Quote:

It was a lazy port, sure, but the source material is so strong it's not a big deal.Quote:

You are absolutely right. I hate that game down in the cochles of my heart.Quote:

Why even worry about f-zero having only 5 tracks? F-zero X is notorious for having a shitload of regular tracks(i can't think of a game with more) and then the track generator for an unlimited amount. You could even make your own tracks in the 64DD version. There is no way Nintendo would let SEGA pull a SEGA by including only a few tracks.
take a look at Yoshi's post aboveQuote:
