I put it in stand by, THEN turn it off fully. I should have specified that.

Why turn it off? It's not using power except for that tiny LED on the front.
FREAK FREAK!
*throws stones at J-Rome!*
i think theres a hack out there to turn off the xbox when watching dvd movies as well as not having to buy the dvd remote to watch movies. would it have been so hard to include this simple feature for those of us that tend to fall asleep while watching movies. but noooooo i have to get up and turn it off myself. boo hiss.
Hell yes I do. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen standby mode work on a PC, it's always just crashed the computer either right then or when I tried to turn it back on later.Quote:

Of course, I just leave my computer on 24-7 anymore, so whatever.
Can leaving a computer on 24-7 cause long-term damage to it?
No. In fact, the majority of the wear that components take in your computer come during the time they are turned on and off. It is actually better in the long run to just leave the computer on 24/7, especially if it receives heavy use and is going to be on most of the time anyway.Quote:

That's good to know, since my new (well, four month old) computer keeps turning off and on if I either make or receive a phone call.
I actually like PS2's Apple computer power off switch. Still, I just use standby mode. It's pretty much the same thing your vcr is doing when your not using it.
i still want Jeremy to buy one, so i can hear about it :)
I'm not talking "Stand By" or "Sleep" modes, I'm talking about the hard switch on your power supply.Quote:
