With all the Square/Enix talk around, I will ask: which two game companies(if any)would you like to see merge?

Smilebit and Bungie. Chance of happening, 0%. :p
Capcom and SNK. I'd like my annual Metal Slug to be as regular as my annual Resident Evil.
3DO and Acclaim :p
Seriously though I can't think of any... maybe Atlus and Camelot :)
Nintendo and Sega. It just seems natural for some reason.
Second would be Capcom and SNK.
Capcom and SNK.
my favorite 2 developers. Nintendo and Namco.
Capcom and Psykio... bring us more Psykio fun, Cappy. Though that'd be much more along the lines of the assimilation that occured with poor, poor Square. Heh... Heheheh... HEH.
Microsoft and Treasure, but Treasure would have total creative control...and all the money they want.
Artdink and Smilebit. The two most creative companies that I can think of :)
...is Artdink even around anymore? o_o
That'd actually be damned interesting. Nice topic, btw.Quote:

I'll add another vote to Capcom and SNK. Oh baby; a new Art of Fighting...
*ahem*
Brisco: As long as you're wanting one more akin to AOF3 (the best game in the series, IMHO) than its predecessors, I can't blame ya. That would rock.
I'd like to see EAD and Sonic Team merge. I guess EAD's not really a company as such, but just imagine the platform games and RPGs such a merger of creative talent could produce... :)
Konami and SEGA. the ultimate 3rd party developer.
Sega and SNK, though Capcom and SNK would indeed be nice.
Nintendo and Sega: the only company that would be big enough to release a systm and damn near support it with enough games by themselves.
Well, Sega and Nintendo, of course. That's like the worlds' two biggest superpowers joining together for the war against your wallets.
Capcom and SNK would be sweet.
Konami and Capcom would be equally sweet, as would Capcom and Sega. Maybe even Namco and Sega: this way Namco wouldn't have to steal their ideas from Sega any more..... :p
About Smilebit and Bungie: SHUT UP!!! Thinking about a game that plays like Halo and GunValkyrie just makes my HEAD HURT!!
Sega and Nintendo, just for the surreal nature of it all.
Capcom and Konami. That would be great.
Maybe make Capcom VS Konami game.
capcom and treasure.
I know! White-Wolf Studios (only Werewolf The Apocalyspe stuff though) and Squaresoft to make a Werewolf The Apocalypse RPG... well I would like it ;) :D
I have a few comments.
»»» Capcom and SNK... I remember a lot of big SNK fans being rather upset about the thoght of Capcom buying SNK outright during their recent problems, so I am surprised that so many here like the idea. I don't really like 2D fighting games so I simply don't care that much. It's just interesting.
»»» Sega and SNK... Well, these are two of my favourite and most respected companies. So it sounds great. But neither one would do that much to help the other. Maybe 5 years ago it would have been ideal.
»»» Nintendo and Sega... This would be cool only if it was a true merger and not Nintendo buying Sega. I don't like the way Nintendo handles a lot of things so I would want to see Sega retain control in such a merger.
Anyway, so here is my idea:
»»» Sega and Hitachi or NEC or Yamaha or Matsushita (etc). Why? New hardware. A Japanese electronics giant buying or merging or forming a partnership with Sega would be ideal. They could use Sega's R&D to design a new console which the new parent company would manufacture and market under their own label, and Sega would be an exclusive first party software developer in a safe position and would not have to worry about hardware sales problems which plagues them since Saturn.
And here is some comedy:
»»» Microsoft and Sony... :p
Konami and Sega for me.
Nintendo and Sega uniting to destroy all competitors. And maybe Yuji Naka could make a Mario game and Shiggy a Sonic game. You know, like Just Imagine w/ Stan Lee Creating the DC Universe.
Tecnosoft and any goddamned company that actually publishes games.
Nintendo and Sega obviously that's a no brainer. Think about how quality a Nintendo/Sega console would be in terms of first party software, no other console could survive it's wrath. Other consoles would have third party games, it would have third party games plus Nintendo games plus Sega games. No brainer, and I actually think Nintendo will buy Sega within a year. Nintendo's definately out to make some purchases..
konami and anyone who releases all their eastern games stateside...
Cave + Psikyo = bad-ass twitch shmups!!

Personally I would rather see Tecmo and Bungie work on a sequel to Oni and do it right. Though LOTS of East to West combos would be amazing. Smilebit and Bethesda for instance... a Panzer Dragoon RPG in that amazing world that you can literally get lost in and ride on the wings of fate :) That, IMO, would be more than awesome... of course, I'd like to see Bethesda apply thier talents to lots of interesting worlds that exist elsewhere. One thing they lack IMO is style. Adding the Panzer element would make things interesting. If not that, then Bioware working with George R. R. Martin (Fantasy author) to make one kick-ass game... but that's not a merger :/Quote:

Smilebit making a truely open-ended JSR would rock, perhaps they could use some help on that ;)

That would be dumb :/
Now if they worked out some kind of Metal Gear but 'capcom cool' then yeah.

The newly-formed Square Enix with Cave.
I've dreamed of a Dragon Quest-themed shmup for years. A classic Final Fantasy shooter would be sublime, as well.
