Valkyrie Profile help!
There'll be ****spoilers**** probably be warned.
So I finished up a few games... and I decide to go ahead and try to finish Valkyrie Profile. I guess Im about midway through, and Im fighting Barbarrossa(sp?) and he keeps doing this goddamn calamity blast thing, and kills damn near everyone. The guts skill has been just about useless on everyone, even at level 8. Im getting pretty pissed at this point. Does anyone know what kind of attack CB is? Are the certain types of armor that defend against it? Any help would be appreciated.
P.S. No, Im not going to a FAQ. I just tried that and got a few things spoiled for me.

Auto-item is where it's at. Just make sure you set the priorities properly.

Oh? Like have everyone set at Union Plume? I'll give it a go, thanks. :)

The best way to be almost (95%) invincible is to use a combination of skills. Set Auto Item to 100% Union Plume for everybody, max out guts and set it for everone, and buy angel curios and equip everyone with them. Now whenever you get hit with a spell that kills everyone, either the curios will bring all of them or one of them back, and then that person will use th union plumes to bring the rest back. Only time you'll get killed is if you're fighting a hard boss like Loki, who will repeatedly kill you to the point where the curios will break on everyone. And I think if barborosa is killing you like that, your levels are too low.

Yeah, my levels are too low actually. I usually just skim through a RPG without leveling up, just to get the story. Then I play again and try to find secretes, and max out power and stuff. I get a better understanding of the game/story that way. Doesn't look like I can do that with VP. The game just isnt set up like that.
I beat him BTW, but barely. I was in the middle of battling him when Mode7 commented, so I did it without the auto item. I stayed away from that because every game that has an auto itme function it it sucks. I guess this is diffrent. Thanks for the advice BTW.
Oh, and what an a-friggen-mazing game.

You should try for the A ending, but for that I'm pretty sure you'll have to start a new game, considering the point you're on now. You get even more of the story, and the sheer challenge of finishing it will give you a big sense of satisfaction. You also reminded me that I haven't gone through the Seraphic Gate.
-
Well damn. I kinda get the feeling that this isnt the type of game that you can break from very much. No going a month without playing it, otherwise you get pretty lost. Or take lotsa notes or something.

damn i just remembered i was almost near the end of the game when i stopped playing too. i should beat it again (i was going for the normal ending this time on hard) and then try the seraphic gate one day.

Calamity Blast is a fire-based Great Magic attack, FYI. Looks like you don't need the help anymore, but don't forget to try things like Dampen Magic or Guard Reinforce whenever you're having trouble with a boss.
Have you figured out how to cast Great Magic yet? I didn't figure it out till I reached Lezard Valeth my first time through.
And for those of you who haven't played the Seraphic Gate, do it! What are you waiting for? It's worth it just to see all the super-kickass hidden characters you'll pick up.

Heh, Im in the dark on alot about this game aparently. Im starting over anyway, so that I can refresh the story in my mind and shoot for the better ending. So it'll be helping me out this time. What do you mean by Great Magic? I guess I dont know if I have to ask huh?
