Christmas TIME!

I copied ChaoofNee and got in the spirit.

This is the official Christmas thread (and Hanukkah and Kwanzaa and present day and whatever else it is you celebrate)

Who else loves christmas-time?

Hmm, a santa hat on Saddam? Could be quite interesting...

I'm not big on Christmas. Mostly because I'm not Christian. The time of the year is nice, though. Kind of sucks without a lot of snow, so hopefully there's a big blizzard here this year. I guess I just mean that I like winter, not particularly the holidays or anything. In fact, I'd prefer if all of the TV specials and advertisements and whatnot would stop. Just call me Mr. Grinch.

There's two holidays called Christmas, coincidentally occupying the same day of the year. There's Christian "birth of Christ" Christmas and there's "big loads o' presents" Christmas. The two don't really have a whole heck of a lot to do with each other, although bits of one do seem to keep getting confused with bits of the other.

I mean, seriously, what do pine trees have to do with a birth in Bethlehem? Palm trees, maybe, I'm not really up on my Bethlehemian botany, but I seriously doubt that Jesus ever once saw a pine tree in his life.

Anyway, I don't have an avatar so no Christmasing it up for me.

i like christmas morning. then christmas afternoon. then the drive home from where ever christmas is being held for the family.

but winter is always nice. because its not so goddamn hot and humid.

I am not Christian either so I don't really celebrate Christmas, except that I exhange presents with people and whatnot. But I do love the trees and lights and Santa Claus hats and all of the fun things that have nothing at all to do with the religion! :)

Personally, I celebrate "Oort Day" instead. Like people did with religion, I made it up! It's even more fun though, even if Xmas is still fun for most people (that I know?) because it's more about the traditional pagan celebrations than Jebus anyways. :)

Sl1p :( And that I am on! I want the Disney DDR GB game to freak people out. The regular DDR game for Gameboy is odd enough, but the fact that they made a Disney version is just too awesome. Plus Disneys Rave was first DDR since 4th Mix that I really liked.

Even though I'm not Christian I still like Christmas time. Everyone is just happier and nicer, and hearing Christmas songs always puts a smile on my face. Plus they show all the Christmas cartoons like Frosty and the Grinch, which is freakin' awesome.

By the way, just so we all are on the same page here, I was referring to the Santa Claus holiday, NOT the Jesus holiday.

If you celebrate the Jesus holiday thats cool too though.

Now that's downright frightening...

I don't really know how anyone can get into the christmas spirit anymore unless you're under the age of say 18. Ever since 18 - I've just not felt anything for this holiday except viewing it as an annoyance and a cause for more problems financially. Its hard to be in the holiday spirit when you are working retail - stupid people and customers and mass commericialism has really soured this holiday for me. When I was young, I was to ignorant to know about the real truths of Christmas in the adult world, as I'm sure were all of you.

I also work in a retail store where christmas music is going to have to be played alot in the upcoming weeks... I'm in the music section of a borders books and music - heh yesterday at work we banned christmas music for the day because everyone was just repulsed by it. I think the only good christmas music is by trans-siberian orchestra, and even that can get a little tiring sometimes. Most of that crap just feels so lame, hollow, shallow and condescending. But the amount of fucking fools who buy christmas music is astounding - these cheeky bastards actually buy this stuff to enjoy it - i don't understand people at all anymore.

Hell, for the past 3 years we have not even put up a christmas tree or lights - we just exchanged gifts on the night before or the morning of christmas day. Neither me nor my family is christian so... I suppose you can say that we exclusivly celebrate christmas commercially - which makes me wonder why we even bother at all.

Might as well go with it ;)
