I currently subscribe to Comcast Cable Internet Service. My computer is 4ish rooms away from my room with the consoles. I REALLY want Xbox live, and I wouldnt mind getting use out of my PS2 net adaptor. My question is this, do I need a router, hub, or switch in order to have both my comp, and a console on at the same time.
If Router is the answer, is this a good idea to get?

I have similiar questions. I'm getting a high-speed USB modem. The Xbox site says I need PC NCI slot. What the hell is that? Can't I just use a router and some shit?

Routers, hubs, AND switches will work. However, I recommend a router, because it shares the IP, otherwise you'll need to pay extra for a second IP for your Xbox, or PS2 with a hub. And yes, that's a good Router, just requires some Port Forwarding to allow incoming voice chat in SOCOM, I don't know about voice on Xbox. Just avoid D-Links, please. You also need Cat-5 cable to connect the router to the console.
Thanks for the help. I don't have Socom, and don't plan on having it. As for Xbox Live voices, I guess I'll find out when I get it.
Well, www.broadbandreports.com has extensive information on the portforwarding and stuff if you ever need it. I'll find it tomarrow, if you like. I've got to be up in a few hours for school though so I don't have the time now. Off to be I go.
