Yeh, I forgot that MetroCard machines and Post Office machines in NYC that give out "American loonies". There's nothing liking going around NYC trying to spend them and having no-one beleive they're "real money". :)
The reason no-one used them (they tried to introduce them twice) is becuase they have to phase out the actual bills to get people to accept them. Once you get used to it it's much more convenient to have coin money for the lower denominations. :)
Also, it's a shame they killed the $2 bill. :(
