For me the biggest disappointments are:
PS2: I never thought that my PS2 would be sitting there collecting dust the way it has this year. Even the remakes/updates have been mediocre at best(although I haven't played Rygar yet).
Super Mario Sunshine: It really is a great game. I would even go so far as to call it the 2nd best 3D platformer behind Mario 64. My problems are that the camera fucking sucks. To this day it baffles me that they think the Sunshine camera was a better solution then Mario 64. It also just lacked that magic that Mario games ALWAYS have. It's really hard to put a finger on exactly what's missing but it just doesn't have that "thing" that all Mario games have always had in spades. Plus the fact that all of the levels were very similar with no snow,lava,etc. I really missed that variety of levels.
Metroid Prime: This is my #1 disappointment of the year. It really is a well made game, the graphics are amazing except the underwater sections that looked exactly like Turok 1 on the N64. I think it being in 1st person sucks. The bomb areas have a different look so you know exactly where to bomb taking all of the search out of it. I must be missing something that everyone else here is seeing because I don't even care about finishing it that much. I only want to finish it because it is a Metroid game. The last thing I got was the Ice Beam so I'm a decent ways into the game. It just doesn't make me want to come back to it to finish it. It also seems that all of the puzzles that require you to be in ball form where made just for that. Not like they were part of the environment but put in just to be a puzzle. Shit, all one of the Space Pirates had to do was knock one of those ball holders off of the wall in any given area and that would have been that. You wouldn't have been able to progress. It really is weak when you think about those stupid circles that were made just for your ball form.
