Yea, because, you know, strategy guides didnt exist until 1995. Nintendo Power's first issue was published in 1997, and they only released this mag, chock full of tips and strategies to beat games, as a reactionary move against Sony.

And nothing like GameShark/ProActionReplay/Game Genie ever came out for anything before PlayStation.

All this stuff is post-1995, because nobody EVER needed help or bought guides or "cheated" their way through games before Sony. Damn, Sony sure is evil.

That's right. 16-bit consoles are the Neo, the Genny, and the SNES. The Turbo/PCE was 8-bit...

SNK claimed that the Neo Geo was "24 bit", but that's not really true. It's technically a 16-bit gaming platform. Albeit, one with an 8-bit co-processor and a lot of RAM.

The Neo-Geo was 16-bit. The TG-16 was a souped-up 8-bit system. And I think the Jag was something around -8-bits. That being said, gamers have been looking for codes, cheats, and other goodies for years and years now. The Game Genie and Pro Action Replay were the first big, well-known (PAR, to a lesser extent) cheat devices out there. The internet has allowed gamers to get their info quicker. They don't have to wait for mags to publish codes, they can just go to GameFAQs now and read them. While I'm appalled, as a gamer, to see people ask for, say, Vice City codes on the day it comes out, they spent their $50 on a game, and if they want to ruin it for themselves, that's fine by me. They haven't done jack shit to ruin MY experience with the game, so I'll just let them keep doing what they're doing.

Why is everyone getting so un-mellow about Sony and the Playstation Generation.

Lots of people were born too late to own a Genny or an SNES. And this group will only grow in numbers.

Deal with it.

If you hate the "PlayStation Generation" and you want to see their gaming broaden, then DO SOMETHING about it. If it's a friend/relative, bring them over some older games, or do what I do, and just give them reviews of older stuff. Try to educate them BEFORE bashing them.
