Here is what I need to know.
Which is the best home version of Fantasy Zone other then the Saturn version? Should I even bother getting one other then the Saturn version? Is there a U.S. version of Fantasy Zone for the TG-16? Help wanted, and appreciated.
There is a U.S. version for the TG. I have it and while it isn't a perfect port, it's great and cheap as hell.
How's the NES rev?
There is a TG16 Fantasy Zone, not too bad, but I'd go after the saturn one, or, if you want to take the better, cheaper (IMHO) route, go straight for Super Fantasy Zone on the MegaDrive, I have the Euro version, and its all in english and runs fine on US systems, its also quite a bit cheaper than the Japanese version, IIRC.
Also check out Space Fantasy Zone for a good, out of the norm, Fantasy Zone game.

IMO you can't go wrong with the Sega Master System games. I still need to pick up the Saturn port myself though.

Japanese Famicom port (Sunsoft) Good.
US NES port (Tengen) Bad.
Best non-saturn port: PC Engine.

I have not heard good things about the NES version, but that may be in a direct comparison to the SMS version. It might be decent compared to other NES games and the gameplay might be fine. I can't imagine it looking very pretty though and the graphical charm and bright colours are a big part of enjoying the series IMO.
Why not just wait for the brand new PS2 "3D Ages" port?
Well the 3D Ages Fantasy Zone is one of the "remakes" thats rumored to be a sequel.
