Games you most regret not buying?

One of my biggest regrets was not buying Ogre Battle 64 when I had the chance.

It was one of those things, when I was just waiting for the price to drop to a good level. I knew the N64 was dying at the time, and most local stores still had a decent supply of Ogre Battle 64's. I knew it was a good game, but I just thought I could most definitely get it for less than $49 if I just waited a few more months. Well, as it turned out, the price never dropped, and suddenly, all the copies of OG64 just disappeared from shelves, in a matter of weeks. After that, I could NEVER find another copy of it ANYWHERE. It was just really strange.

I could name a few... but nothing comes close to...

Panzer Dragoon Saga.

I was low on money when it came out and I had no idea how quickly it would disappear and excalate in value exponentially. :(

I missed picking up both Shining Force 1 & 2 complete for about 20$ each...

Worst off, I could have gotten a Japanese Saturn w/ the clear skeleton shell for about 15$, but I didn't buy it from a customer because the owner was really pissed about a bunch of stuff at the store, and I knew that if I bought it (even for myself), he'd probably flip out. (Plus at the time I didn't think I'd have a use for a japanese saturn:sweat: )

Also, I missed out on getting a Agetec arcade stick for DC when they were easy to find.

Ogre Battle 64 was one for me as well. I don't know why, or how, but it was selling for twenty-five dollars at the Best Buy down here, brand new, like two weeks after release, and this was when N64 games were still (more) expensive. I should've snatched up a truck load of them and make a mint at eBay :p

Radiant Silvergun (SS)

Both look absolutely godly, but my lack of familarity with importing, funds and consoles to run them on prevented me from buying them when they were still affordable. I doubt I'll ever own them now.

Lunar Eternal Blue Sega CD. Twice. The first time was when I bought my Sega CD and EB had it for weeks. I was a cheap ass and figured the price would drop from $50 sooner or later, so I bought all of their other cheap games. When I wanted Lunar, it was gone. The second time happened around 1998, where my local flea market had it for $27, but I insisted on buying something else. The guy warned me that it sells pretty fast, but I had my head in my ass. Turns out he has a store somewhere else when the flea market is closed and someone else got it.

Radiant Silvergun.I should have brought it 98.

Well, Lets see:

Panzer Saga - Missed on it back in the day, and probably wont be getting it now.

Radiant Silvergun - Should have shelled $50 when it just came out, and maybe bought like $20 copies and then sold them $120 a piece :)

Psycic Assassin - Even though it might be a somewhat mediocre game, I still want to try it, so I should have bought it, before it became $300 rarity.

Panzer Saga more than anything else.

I have to question what the hell people on this board were doing missing Panzer Saga? Were you too busy buying PS1 shit? It was $50 and easy to find for the first month...

I was managing Babbages/Software Etc. at the time and the game was anything but easy to find.

The first shipment was 10K, and the second shipment came in around a month later that as another 3-5K if I remember correctly.

Maybe in your area you lucked out and had some available, but I remember calling around all through WI/IL to find copies for some of our customers to no avail.

Persona 2. Can't find it anywhere.

I took no chances with Panzer Dragoon Saga, I ordered my copy from ebgames.com the day it was released. The only game I regret not buying new is Lunar: Silver Star Story for PS1. I didn't have the money at the time and I couldn't find it anywhere when I could finally afford it. I know I'll regret not buying Steel Batallion when it's going for $1000 on Ebay in a couple years, but I can't justify that much for a game right now.

Earthbound. Brand new at my local Best Buy for $15. I kick myself daily for not buying them.

A few months back, PaCrappa had a mint/sealed JPN Gunbird 2 that I passed on. It was gone about a week later and I was kicking myself, but with any luck he will get a new one soon. I also regret not buying a lot of games when I was a kid and keeping them in-box with a manual.

The second copy of Panzer Dragoon Saga that I came across for $20 new. It was a month or two after the game's release, how was I to know it would sell for 8x that in a few years?

Burning Rangers. I was going to order it from VGD during the holiday sale they were having, but when I went to buy it, gone. At least I filled that void with a new Cosmic Smash, and although I could always go to eBay, there's something about buying a used game from a reputable store that puts my mind at ease.

On the flip side, I regret buying the Euro DC version of Rez over the Japan version a couple of months ago. I wasn't aware at the time that the second printing of Euro Rez's didn't work with boot disks, so now I have a useless game (I'm not particulary in the mood to mod my DC just to play it unless I can find a place that does it really cheap). I could always get the PS2 version, but I want the option to play Rez through a VGA cable.

Ditto [regarding Valkyrie Profile]. Now it's price is sorta jacked up...I just hope someone sells one to my store at some point, but customers seemt be a bit more savvy now (internet savvy, at least).

More? Dang...it's one of the last things on my PSone list (and unless I luck out, which is near-impossible in this city which is seemingly filled with hardcore game collectors, it'll stay that way). But I've gotta check it out. It looks better than SMT 3, anyway.

The Gamestop by me has it. :p I could've gotten Rez back when Best Buy had them for $20, but I acted to slow and next thing I knew they were all gone. :(

I passed on Radiant Silvergun because I was way too in debt in 1998 and I felt getting Panzer Dragoon Saga was a higher priority. I definitely don't regret getting Saga but I wish I could have got Silvergun too.

I don't think I have any games I regret not buying based on anything aside from their resale values. If I really want to play something, I'll pony up the cash...

Awhile after its release, I found a mint used copy at a FuncoLand. It just happened to be the FuncoLand I used to work at. $16 + employee discount. Mwa ha ha ha.

Mine is Radiant Silvergun. I was going to get it, even though I didn't have a saturn because I wanted to play it so much, but I kept putting it off, and putting it off... I did the same thing with rakugaki Showtime. How was I to know Treasure's stuff would be so sought after in a couple years?

Ogre Battle 64 for me as well, Opa. Cosmo Games had a few copies, but they were still $49.95. A month or two later, I asked the clerk about them and he goes, "We marked them down to $25, and a day later I sold all five remaining copies to one guy."

Son of a bitch! Oh well...

As for Panzer Dragoon Saga, I took no chances with that either. I ordered the Japanese version as soon it was released, then later on I found a dumb sucker who sold his US copy to me for $50.

BTW, I just saw a used Valkyrie Profile in my EB for $30 the other day. Should I pick it up ASAP??

Only R-Type Delta. Luckily, I've tracked down just about everything else that I've ever wanted. But I'll be DAMNED if I passed up on R-Type Delta for $15, new and sealed.

gexpress.com had Castlevania: SotN for $10.50 or so a while back... Never did get it. But I never really wanted it/still don't want it all that much.

I've got a bunch of these but there's others I missed out on. Blew off Panzer Dragoon Saga, but got to play a friend's copy. Like an idiot, I didn't buy Radiant Silvergun when we had it at EB. It's so expensive, after all...

Nowadays I'll buy just about anything that catches my eye, assuming I can justify it. We had an R-Type Delta in at EB the other week that I almost could justify, but it had no instructions (just the instruction cover), the disk wasn't as good as I'd have liked it to be, and worst of all it had a nasty rental plastic covering sticker on it. The kind that completely coat the top of the disk. It was still a close thing but I had to pass for now.

I'll console myself playing Steel Battalion, I guess. :)

Panzer Dragoon will be included with PD Orta. If you don't have a Box, you can probably find a copy of PD on Ebay for around $15. Bbob- Best Buy was around back in the SNES days? I thought Best Buy was only 3-4 years old.

!! Geepers... I never knew you lived in PR... But plenty of retailers have the game for sale online and I think shipping to PR isn't necessarily expensive... But if you can't buy stuff online, that's a different story...

Rez is rare? I still see it at Toys R Us all the time, although they haven't cut the price on it at all. Still $50, but still available too. Worth every damn penny, so stop being a cheapskate and go buy it.

Those $20 copies of PanzerSaga at ToysRUs still taunt me to this day.
I was so taken by the game that I seriously intended to buy copies for a few of my friends. And I even had a slip in my hand on my way to a register one day when I realized that I'd have to buy them Saturns also.
..then I figured I'd wait till used Saturns and games could be bought for a few bucks... :(

I definitely regret not buying Guilty Gear back then because it's such a hard game to find anywhere.

Although I got lucky with an ebay auction with this but I could have had it new.

Definately Panzer Saga and Burning Rangers. Damn I'd love to play those two. I also regret not buying Guardian Heroes for the Saturn when I had the chance. I rented it and loved it, but never got around to buying it. Now I have the urge to play that game all the time, but I can't find it anywhere.

There aren't any videogames I want that are that expensive, or that I couldn't afford. Really, like, unless you've got some sort of deep desire for Darius Alpha or Sapphire, then you won't have to shell out all that much to play any game you're interested in...videogames aren't that expensive.

However, I want to play Steel Batallion, and that'll probably be actually expensive, soon.
