I would just like to thank everyone for allowing me to read the words "sprites" and "parallaxing" on the same page. It brings back fond memories. Damn "polygrams."
I love Sprite based graphics! I still get blown away from time to time when I see games I have never seen before. 8-Bit and 16-Bit wow me, you just have to take into account the system they are on.
NES Games:
Shatterhand (This game is one of the best looking NES games ever, and it rules!)
Batman
Kirby
SNES:
Yoshis Island
Link to the Past
Super Punch-Out!!
Kirbys SuperStar
Super Metroid
FF Games
Lufia (never played them, but the bosses I have seen are amazing looking)
Super Mario RPG
Genesis:
Vectorman 1&2
Chakan (the Genesis's ability to make dark creepy games equals the SNES awesome power for Bright Colorfull worlds)
Space Harrier (32X)
Dynamite Headdy
Sonic 3
Phantasy Star was ahead of its time.:)
In a way, Last Batlle.
Actraiser.
Preach on brother.Quote:

Still one of my favorite Sonic stages.
There's tons of games that I think still look good. But one that I have to mention is Strider. There are so many scenes in that game that I look at and think are better than most of what shows up in today's games, 3D or otherwise, in terms of colour and detail.
Man, not nearly enough people mention shatterhand. Good stuff...I'll add Batman: Return of the Joker (NES) and Mike Tyson's Punchout to the impressive 8-bit list.Quote:

I loooove sprites way better than just about any of these new fangled polygrams you kids are raving about.
Anyway, I'm still a big fan of the early Neo Geo games, like Magician Lord and Nam 1975. Even Ninja Combat. The detailed, colorful graphics make those games even funner.. err, more fun.
But this isn't just a Neo thread, so I'll throw in Final Fight and Run 'N Gun for good measure.
I gotta admit, I am still a big fan of the NES Dragon Warrior and Zelda!
