I guess not many people play this game...since it's all in Japanese and you need to quite a giant robot and strategy nut to appreciate it...but I thought if there was a forum where there would be fans of this game, this would be it...
So what are your favorite SRW games? Of the ones I played, this is how I would rate them:
Super Robot Wars Alpha - 8
Super Robot Wars Advance - 9.5
Super Robot Wars F (Saturn) - 9
Super Robot Wars Impact (PS2) - 7
I've played Super Robot Wars F and Super Robot Wars 64, I never completed either of them, I think I got about halfway through F and 2 battles through 64 before I traded them away, playing those reminded me why I hate Strategy RPG's :D
I love Super Robot Wars.(see avatar =\) Just logged off of a game of Masou Kishin: Lord of Elemental on the SNES right now.

Its a game featuring a collection of classic TV show cartooncharacters put out by the company that makes their toys. If that's not hardcore, I don't know what is!Quote:

I'm waiting for ghideon zhi to finish his translation of super robot wars alpha (or was it 3) before I take the plunge. I can tell from the screenshots that its the kind of game that requires a heavy knowledge of japanese.
I'd personally recommend the SD Gundam series over the Super Taisen series any day of the week.
However I'm not sure how their PS2 titles (Alpha and Neo) play. If it's anything like the difference between the PS titles, though, it'd be clear to me that the SD Gundam title is the one to get.
@Lord - The only Japanese you really need to know in this game are for mission objectives (which is usually a paragraph or less) and for machine names (so that you can see what you have in your inventory and not, etc). Everything else is just story fluff. I've seen my friends finish G Generation Zero and F with just a FAQ.
I hate Gundam though, I usually pick the Super Robot side when I play these games.
Dog$ is right, you don't need a lot of japanese knowledge to get through. The very first time I played one, I could read no japanese, and except for a little trial and error with the magic, it wasn't much of a bother.

Only one I bought (and sold) was SRWF Final for the Saturn... and I absolutely hated it.
I don't know if you need to have save data from SRWF or not, but in concept, only 2-3 of the 50+ mechs could actually damage the enemy. Add in that this is an SRPG where every little attack takes a minute and you've got the most tedious game I've ever played. I think you really have to be a mech fan to appreciate it, cuz I sure did not have many positive things to say about the game.
Tsubaki: you're missing the point. They play BGM of the actual theme songs when they fight~!
Technosphile - Hakkaider should be in Super Tokusatsu Wars. Which is like Super Robot Wars, but with Tokusatsu characters.

This sort of shit isn't "hardcore" - it's some strategy game that appeals to anime fans. Yay.
