Well... I never said you were wrong for liking it, I said you were wrong in that you automatically slagged reviewers for calling it something it's not... most definitely did not call it a poor Matrix clone, and most definitely did not say it had too much action that weighed down the drama (many thought the "drama" was horrible and amateurish, actually). So there goes your points. Most didnt like it because they thought the storyline sucked, and they thought the action sequences were lousy and didnt make the movie any better. Sounds like fair criticism to me. You called it "unjust". Whatever.

You came up with a conspiracy theory about Miramax, about shit reviews, about whatever, and I say the movie got shit reviews because reviewers thought it sucked, and Miramax pulled it because they knew it sucked. Whose right? Who knows, but conspiracy theories dont work in every situation. It's easier to say that a movie you liked failed because of the Stonecutters rather than because it just was one of those crap movies that you still happen to like.

As another small point, you said that Equilibrium tries to do something that other action films do, it tries to have drama, a real strong deep storyline, whatever. Dont you think "art house snobs" would be more in tune with films like that to say that Equilibrium's attempt is ridiculous (or good)?

Of course, Im just a piece of shit "art film snob", what do I know about "action" movies?

You cant call EQ action sequences louse without seeing them. Ask anyone on this board who has seen it, and they will tell you that even if they didnt like plot too much the Action was Amazing. You cant say you enjoy Action films, if you dont like what EQ has to offer.

Man, Its not conspiracy theory its the DAMN TRUTH. Miramax fucked EQ release and there are no denying it. If you were more familiar with usual Miramax doings, you would have less doubts about it.

Read those reviews, some do mentioned that drama is SPOILED by action. I personally though that action sequences added to emotional drama, and werent there just as a diversion. But why am I even trying to make you guys understand it, you both seem pretty much set in your believes about EQ, that no matter what I will try to say, its not going to change anything.

Well, I didnt call you POS Art Film Snob, you did that yourself. And Yes many of so called Snobs DONT know anything about Action films, and ARE BIASED against them.

Well I downloaded it, so Im gonna watch it, and Ill weigh in on my thoughts. I realize, Despair, that you probably think Im just one more member of the evil anti-EQ conspiracy, but that's not the case. If I like it, Ill say so. Of course it probably doesnt matter anymore - if I do genuinely dislike it and mention it... well you know where Im getting at.

Well I appreciate Sqoon clarifying his comments and that's all I have to say...moving on to another thread...and yes I have become bitter because of poor film reviewers, but I will look up the ones you suggested...I suggest we all let this one die...I'll post my opinions on the film once I get the DVD...

Just recently checked out Equilibrium and I liked it. Yeah the story was over the top and shitty but I watched it for the action scenes and gotta say, they were incredible.

Well, Today is the day, and dvd is out :p Make sure to pick it up, if you can find it(my Best Buy dont even have it on the list of movies out, and I had to buy it from Suncoast, and I HATE Suncoast). I guess Miramax continue screwing EQ :( :(

As for dvd itself, it BARELY has anything. 2 Commentaries and 5 minute special WOW !!!!! :(

Still, I'm just happy to have it in my hands.

Mine is waiting for me at Suncoast along with Col/Tristar release of Chow Yun Fat's Full Contact. But I probably won't be able to pick them up until the weekend, I'll post thoughts then.

Saw it in the store today. I'll have to give this a rent soon. I read a review where they taqlked about the whole "Gun Kata" think, sounds cool.

I rented it yesterday and like the film, however watching it the day after Reloaded was a big mistake as it just seemed so weak in comparison...
