Strider, just how long did it take you to think that up?

The angry man complaining about the lack of sound (which could mean any feature related to the "show" -ie. shooters, like graphics, play mechanics, etc.) represents the general dissatisfaction and apathy with which the gaming community at large regards shmups.
Unfortunately, on one level you recognize that there is something inherently frivolous and irresponsible about the subject at hand - it represents something of a return to your childhood, a notion backed up by the fact that this demonstration takes place in your childhood neighbourhood. First the protesting woman breaks in, holding a clipboard, which is a totem of power, rationality and responsibilty. She may represent the initial discouragement you recieved from society, "girls who are not impressed", in particular, or maybe teachers, regarding being all hard-core over videogames.
The initial discouragement gives way to flat-out hostility as the figure of the pregnant Tae Kwon Do black woman breaks in, disrupting and harming the crowd who once held the projection scene in high regard (and shattering the source of Mode's public respectability and awe). This progression of events may represent you aging, and growing into a world which demands more of you. I believe the crowd in this capacity is a reflection of childhood friends with whom you shared a love of games, who were forced by the world to abandon them as "frivolous" in order to be accepted.
The black woman, being pregnant, identifies her as a grounded mother figure - quite possibly a representation of Gaia, or the world in general, and more specifically an anthropomorphic embodiment of the reponsibilty you feel toward living up to your mother's expectations of you with regard to becoming a responsible, grounded adult. Black mothers are often represented in media as being stern, no-nonsense types, which would serve to to back up the notion of her being a representation of a world which has little respect for expending so much psychic energy on what it considers frivolous, childish hobbies. Her martial arts display is a physical representation of the damage such consternation and disapproval can have on one who holds Ikaruga in such high regard, and/or who finds it difficult to conform to the wishes of a materialistic, success driven society.
Or maybe you smoked something you shouldn't have before you went to bed. I don't know, I'm not a psychiatrist.
Please tell me I didn't spill my drink.
None, it's just what occurred to me when I read it. If I'd actually spent considerable time thinking about it, I'd have had to charge him.Quote:

When I had a dream with TNL members in it before, everyone was basically a body with their avatars on it for their heads. Even the board members that use their portraits as their avatars came across as looking like bodies with cardboard cut out heads.
I've never had a dream about a message board. Ever.

What did everyone look like? Their avatar with little legs and arms?
That's what I was going to say. How the hell did you know who was who?
I don't know, frequently when I dream I won't see specific features or anything but I know who people are. Sorry, no avatars on little legs.
Wow, that completely outclasses my "Cigs has the hots for Mode" analysis.
I knew that was coming, but I thought it was interesting enough to post anyway.

Nah, you kept your head.

Nope, just a litte bad wine. And I mean bad. And Strider, you're nuts. Very interesting read.
Me too.Quote:

I don't believe you avatar-head liars.
I've dreamt about hunting Grunts from Halo and then being spoted as a hail of fire opened on me. Also, I had a dream I was in Vvardenfell... it wasn't a good dream though. I didn't like it. When I have dreams about being in a game I stop playing them for a long time because I think that's bad for me... then again... I'd like to have something tangeble to attach to my seemingly random and abstract dreams (seldom involving people and more involveing sound and geometrics shapes and high contrast colors... of note, large numbers or quanities moreso are a source of nightmares for some reason).
That said, I have never dreamt about anyone or anything here.

... so you have dreams about large numbers floating around?
...... creepy
