Zelda and Mario confirmed for US Animal Crossing

As for the new NES games in Animal Crossing, as you may have guessed by now, unlocking them early requires the GameCube Action Replay. This information could be considered a SPOILER, so scroll down if you really want to know which games are left on the disc.





















It's been known that both Super Mario Bros. and The Legend of Zelda are both hidden on the Japanese version of Animal Crossing. We can now confirm that both are included in the North American version as well. There's no telling when Nintendo will announce the in-game codes to unlock these treasured classics, but you can get them much earlier with the Action Replay. Datel has already discovered an Action Replay code to unlock Zelda, and they are currently working on one to unlock Mario as well. Remember that once these games are unlocked, you can also download them to your GBA for portable play.

I'm glad that Planet GameCube confirmed it. I had already mentioned this in the official AC thread.

All I can say is... sweet :)

Now, if they can make a GameShark code that will allow you to send "rare" NES games to people who don't have a GameShark or enough energy to earn them on their own. :)

I hope Nintendo rereleases the Japanese Super Mario Bros. 2 in some form. The SNES All-Stars version doesn't do justice to the FDS original.

I wish Animal Crossing was online, well other then the the community thing Nintendo could upload more NES games too :)... plus another game to use the modem or broadband adapter would be good too ;)

Please explain. I thought the only changes were the color of poison mushrooms and the continue system.

The Lost Levels was botched in the same way Super Mario Bros. 1 was. I can't explain it well but the feel is off. When you hit bricks the timing feels really awkward.

But if SNES SMB1 feels fine to you then The Lost Levels/SMB2 will too.

I have no problem with the ports of the American Super Mario Bros. 2 or Super Mario Bros. 3. Those make Super Mario All-Stars worth owning.

Wasn't "the Lost Levels" also in the GBC version of Super Mario Bros.?

Yeah, but you have to unlock it. I have Super Mario Bros. Deluxe but since I hate playing games on a small screen, I rarely touch it.

But thanks for reminding me of it though. I know what I'll be playing when Nintendo releases that GBA-GC device.

Really cool, I had a feeling they were in there, after all, why would NOA go out of their way to take them out of the game? Damn, the prospect of playing in the original Zelda on the GBA just sounds too cool...too bad the play data will probably be erased if you have to turn the thing off, making it impossible to beat the game on one set of batteries, but still, nifty :)

I think they should have have already given us the Mario code... but thats just me... maybe as an apology for sunshine heh

I think we'll get Zelda about a month before the GC game's release. As for Mario, maybe X-mas.

Or, we can just use a Gameshark, and get them whenever we want.

I've already stopped playing AC, I only kept it around for when Punch Out got released. Now, I don't have to wait for Nintendo to give it to me.

I think it would be cool if Nintendo released a special Zelda E-Reader card with the Us Version of the Cube Zelda game. You could scan the card in and get Zelda in Animal Crossing. The only downside to this is that many gamers do not own an E-Reader and I'm sure there are some uninterested in the Cube Zelda.

As for the whole gameshark idea, I do not cheat. I'd rather wait and get it on my own.

I don't consider it cheating. There is nothing involved in the gameplay that gets you the game. You just wait for Nintendo to give you the code. But, whatever.

Now if only they would give us the code for Punchout and I'd be even happier.

Seems like Nintendo will eventually have ALL of it's classic games playable on Gamecube, between Animal Crossing, the GBA player and all the GBA SNES ports, and all these old games they're releasing with new ones (NES Metroid with Prime, OOT with Celda, ect.)

I want Punch-Out, and Zelda... :(


OT: I played AC last night for the first time in five weeks, I still have alot of weeds to pull.

Is there a way to save Zelda to the GC memory card?

Don't know if you're familiar with the game, but either these codes bypass AC directly and let you play the ROM, or generate the NES item so the ROM can be played within AC. If it's the first, I doubt it, if it's the second, you should be able to save to the AC file.

I doubt either game is code tradeable.

all the NES games you play their games are saved to your GC mem card

like your high scores and stuff in tennis and what not

So id imagine when you save in Zelda it would be saved to the GC mem card just like metroid is in metroid prime

thats what i like most about it

sure for some strange reason the batteries in my NES games still work but they wont always work so this gives me something i can play through and always have able to save

There might be some universal codes found for the games. I just found universal codes for three NES games.

where at and what games?

This is a great place for Universal Codes..for AC... their ways to make money really quick to..
