The longest? It would be a tie...
11 hours. Once playign SMB3 when I was a kid start to finish, completing every level and never using the whistles.
More recently (as in a few years ago) I played Megaman X4 on the saturn start to finish in one sitting, first with X then with Zero. Although I have no idea why it took me that long, last time I played the game I breezed through it in no time. Maybe when I played it before I didn't know which boss was weak to what weapon.
i'm not sure of the exact playtime, but my roommate in college made me play nhl 94 for the sega cd, until he beat me...i won 9 straight games...we started about 10:00 pm and i remember letting him beat me when the sun came up...heck i had class at 8:00!
i do remember the same roommate playing psIV for over 10 hours one day, and he was total cg...never own a console other than a NES...wierd...
i remember going through smb 3 with out warp whistles once...how rediculous that was! i swear it was like 8 hours...thanks for the non-save feature nintendo...

i could never play a fighter for more than 2 hours...
A stab in the dark (recesses of my mind) might produce memories of Phantasy Star 1 and 2. ..Shining Force CD, Herzog Zwei, or Metroid.
I definately put in 8-12 hour sessions on those games.
More recently Skies of Arcadia commanded large chunks of my days, ..despite the fact I was mostly bored to hell
I just played Puyo Pop for like 15 minutes.
The stupid mermaid chick beat me with a 4Hit chain on hard... :(
i forgot my 16+ hour stint of daoc...but that's a mmorpg, so i have to divide that by 4 to get an eqivalancy factor...so that's really not very impressive...
I didn't want to count my DAOC playing time b/c that would be sick sick sick!
