Jason WAS DEAD at the beginning of the film. In other words dreaming. Thats how Freddy got him to wake up/regenerate back to life and go to Elm Street. Yes, Jason was dead in the beginning, and Freddy was in hell, unable to hurt anyone, powerless other than the ability to create illusions. He didn't have any real power over Jason there...after all, Jason came back to life on his own, Freddy didn't have the power to actually raise him, he just gave him a reason to bring himself back to life (pretending to be his mommy). So, it seems that Jason can raise himself any old time he wants, and Freddy can't. But even if Jason WAS dead, it would mean Freddy was too, because Freddy can't influence dead people in the dream world. And why would Freddy waste his time making Jason think he won, except to keep himself safe because he was afraid of him? Sorry, my friend, but your idea holds no water. It just sounds like the desperate theory of a Freddy fan who can't deal with the fact that his hero lost. :p No offence, but my theory is more logical. Plus, I justreally want Jason to have won. ;)


Besides, like it was pointed out above, I think you're reading into the ending to much. Everything else about the movie was totally simple and straightforward (the plot, Freddy and Jason's motives, everything, was explained in detail multiple times by almost every fucking character in the movie)- it would be totally against everything if it suddenly tried to get all complex at the end. The end, like everything else in the movie, was supposed to be taken as is. FvJ isn't supposed to make you think. :)

I seriously think Freddy and Jason teaming up in the sequel against someone would be a cool idea.

Thanks to Despair and Dolemite, I now have no idea who the "victor" was. Was it Freddy, was it Jason, or was it the bitch who cut off Freddy's head. O well, the movie kicked major ass, ans I am seeing this movie again in theaters so help me god.

:lol: Yeah, me and Despair are getting a little overboard about this. Despair can try to explain away the truth any way he can, but if you're confused, DarkCrow, don't worry- just calculate who had the most body parts remaining at the end of the movie, and there's your winner. :)

Well, What did Freddy wanted most at the end of the film. To kill Jason. Thus by keeping him happy and dreaming he SUCCEDED. Jason is dreaming about his victories, sleeping quetly on the bottom of crystal lake, while Freddy is getting back into dreamworld.

No, Jason popped out of the water and rammed Freddy's own arm though his chest, dealing out a mortal wound. He fell back in the water, and Freddy dropped to his knees and dropped the machette. He was trembling and obviously dying. The fact that Jason walked out of the water shortly thereafter seals it for me Freddy wasn't going anywhere, and if that girl hadn't chopped off his head Jason could have finished him off any time himself.

Yep. Agree. I wouldnt really mind seeing it again. They should get Leatherface into the sequel, so Jason and Freddy can kick his ass :p

And seeing the movie was just as much fun the second time as it was the first. Who was DJ rooting for?

I saw this for the second time today. Still love it. I never got bored once during the movie, it's the perfect length and moves along really well.

I saw it with a bigger crowd this time and I'll tell you, Freddy still has it man. If they can make another Nightmare flick, keep this Freddy and make it kick ass, it'll be a huge hit. He still scares people man, he got all the screams from the crowd. I can't get over how amazing that bed kill is. I didn't realize before, but when Blake folds, he SCREAMS. That is really an amazing physical effect they put together there (pixel- I don' agree with your FX comment at all. These effects were worlds better than the previous movies. I watched the original NM last night, and a lot of it looks really bad. While a lot of the blood is exaggerated, if you get your arms taken off, especially how it happened to Freddy, you're going to gush. An artery goes right by your arm pit). I just noticed that while there is a ton of blood, there is no real "meat". No intestines ("Jay" should be ALL over the place, not just 2 pieces) or much bone matter. I guess they decided to go a bit easier on the gruesome scale.

Do they just estimate the totals for Sunday? Because there are still showings when they say the total, plus the west coast is 3 hours behind the east. I think it'll do more than $37 million. It's been a long time since either franchise made that kind of money. I'm so glad most people are liking it and it's doing so well.

Oh yeah, I liked that plot run of "did Lori's dad kill her mom?". It tied everything together really well. The parents (her dad really) was so desperate to stop Freddy that he covered up her death (by any accounts he could have cut his wifes torturing short) and sent Will away. He lied to her, but was able to stop Freddy in the end. Plus it worked well with the "we can't trust the cops/adults" motif. I thought this all went together to make a strong plot for a Freddy movie let alone a Friday flick.
